Family Guy movie confirmed by MacFarlane...possible animation/live-action hybrid?

This could be good, but outside of doing some live action bits, what are they going to do that they CAN'T do on the show? The show's borderline MA as it is and the DVDs are uncensored, so what's going to set it apart from being a 90 minute episode?

He did an interview with some online movie site called Filmdrunk.com.

Yeah, I would assume don't let the name fool you, as they do have some strangely reliable interviews and sources.

What's sad is how unsurprised I am about this. I was expecting a Family Guy movie to hit theaters, and somehow I'm even less surprised to find that it could be live action.

Media is predictable. D;

I don't think anything was said to indicate that the movie is going to be live action. It sounds like there may be something live action in this movie, but the characters will no doubt be the same characters we're used to seeing on the show.

Seth isn't stupid.

I have to say, I really don't see what can be done in a Family Guy movie that hasn't already been done on the show. I suppose that the film could have saucier language and some uncensored bleeps, but what else?

Eh, if South Park, another show renowned for its' political and social incorrectness, could make a successful movie, then so can Family Guy.

You know it'll make money just because it's Family Guy.

With a theatrical budget they can do things with the animation that they couldn't do on the show. Considering when the show cuts loose with action scenes/full animation it's some of the best stuff with the series, I can see how a theatrical feature might look really, really cool. Like how the Simpsons movie had a bigger "look" to it, and had fuller animation.

A Family Guy movie done like an action/adventure film could be really cool. I just don't think Seth is going to take the TV show, stretch it to 90 minutes and slap it on the big screen. I can't imagine him not wanting to do something cool with a theatrical version of the show. And you know this thing is going to have some major musical numbers.

Maybe he'll do something along the lines of the endings of "Da Boom" or "Not All Dogs Go to Heaven".

If there are live-action parts., it would be funny if at least one scene featured the freaky live-action Peter from "Let's Go to the Hop". The potential for laughs would be endless.

That would just basically be the DVDs on the big screen then.

btw I'm surprised no one has mentioned a comparison to how the Spongebob movie included a live action David Hasselhoff. I see this happening but with Peter and some other obscure 80's celebrity.

Yeah, I don't see why they couldn't do cutaways with the animated characters and live action celebrities. Who knows what they could be planning.

They'll probably just cut to actual clips from movies and TV shows from the 70's and 80's, Muppet Babies-style, instead of direct re-creations with the show's cast stuck in.

Or the movie could parody the style similar to the one in the new series 'Sit Down, Shut Up' and talk about how it'll never be as popular as its predecessor Arrested Development.

I could see seth doing a FG movie with the cast in real world backgrounds, mabye add a few live action celebrities, hmm, mabye like stewie invents a machine that can travel through dimensions & somehow the Griffins get stuck in the real world, now that would be both cliche & entertaining.:D
