Family Guy - "Halloween on Spooner Street" - Talkback [11/7]

True, he didn't half ass his revenge efforts as well, Learning the language? Check. Learning and practicing Japanese customs? Check. Learning some history as well? check? Quagmire went the extra mile for this. That's what made it great, you can actually believe he's Japanese, since the backstory does sound believable to an extent.

Easily the best show tonight. A straight forward A-plot about Quagmire getting pranked and revenge, and 2 sub-plots that got the rest of the family involved as well.

The Quagmire pranks were hilarious and his twist revenge was pretty surprising too. Meg's attempt to make out with another guy made for an amusing moment as well, and the ending was a great way to top it off. Brian and Stewie's stuff was pretty boring, but Lois getting involved made it end on a good note.

Awesome/hilarious Halloween episode,

The highlights:
Chris as Bill Cosby was funny.
Peter/Joe being the ultimate pranksters on Glen was funny.
The way Dick runs was hilarious, hehehe.
Yikes, Glen is not effected by those diseases.
Glen's swollen face was creepy/hilarious, hahahahaha.
Stewie thinking the trick-or-treaters as monsters while mentioning Superman and shooting them was funny, nice to see his funny homicidal side again.
Brian/Peter vs. their mirror reflections was hilarious, hahahahaha:p:D:p.
Wooooow, Meg looks cute in her cat costume.
Stewie mentioning the vampire duck had me thinking, Count Duckula, that show was awesome!!!!!!
Mayor Adam West still cracks me up, hahahaha.
Uh-oh, poor Stewie is the next to be a target for bullies in Halloween after poor Cleveland Jr.
Stewie's swollen face was creepy/hilarious, hahahahaha.
The Baseball Stewie gag.
Wooooow, Glen is part Japanese.
Peter lost in the grocery store was funny, hahahaha.
The domestic abuse with the midget couple with Joe chasing them was super  hilarious, hahahahaha, my chest hurts now, hahahahaha.
When the bullies called Brian Snoopy, Brian used to dress up as Snoopy with Woodstock following him, hahahahaha.
Brian being sprayed pink like Snoopy from the bullies was funny.
I love the Pink Panther's appearance.
Mort stealing Peter's newspaper and going turtle mode was funny.
Nice to see that jerk Connie and Bill Clinton, hahahahaha.
The mystery boy in the cool Optimus Prime costume could be Neil.
The Scarlett Johanson gag.
WOOOOW, Chris/Meg kissing was so shocking, messed up, and so wrong on so many levels, EWWWWW:eek::ack:, but funny when they were freaking out like Brian/Stewie, hahahahaha, those two are so scarred/humiliated for life.
Stewie wanting to kill the bullies, but accidently killing Godzilla was funny, nice Indiana Jones reference with Stewie on the roof with his bazooka.
Stewie's payback on Justin, one of the bullies was sweet, go Stewie!!!!!
Lois being crazy on Justin's mother on wanting more candy was funny, never get her mad, hahahaha.
Glen's revenge on Peter/Joe was AWESOME, go Glen, which his payback prank was so hardcore!!!!!

Quagmire's "Japanese" consisted of actual Japanese words, but they were said in random order with no grammatical context. His sentences didn't mean anything.

Also, and I know this is something that's been going on with The Simpsons for years, but why in the world are they showing Halloween episodes a week into November? Why not rearrange some of the episodes and air them before the holiday? It's embarrassing seeing a Halloween episode air after the fact.

Baseball playoffs and the world series itself takes over Sundays in October, and I guess FOX doesn't want to blow it off by airing them at the end of September. Last year, miraculously, Simpsons aired prior to Halloween due to a foresight of absolutely no game on the Sunday prior.

I'm really impressed by Family Guy lately. The eighth season has shown a wild uptick in the story writing department. No more lazy plotting and cutaways galore. My friend speculated that Seth was somewhat embarrassed by all the "manatee gag" flack he had gotten, so he's rearranged the way he wants the show. Good job, buddy.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing, but there are other reasons that he may know Japanese. After all he's probably 'done it' with a lot of Japanese women.

Yet another pretty good one. I like how each storyline ended perfectly.

Meg and Chris making out was obviously the highlight. Never thought they'd have a Biran/Stewie moment with the overacting yelling and all.

I don't see why the halloween episodes can't just air on a different night of a week. There have been instances where episodes were shown on special nights.

It didn't even occur to me that Optimus Prime might be someone in an Optimus Prime costume. I just assumed that it was Optimus Prime, like in the episode where they claimed that he's Jewish.

This was one of the best episodes in a long time!

The plot was an actual plot (3 of them actually;)) and was really good!

There were very few cutaway gags and I think only one of them actually had a real pop culture reference!

Meg/Chris, oh god. So wrong but still so hilarious anyways. And the ending, geez they are really that desperate?!:ack:

Also the part with Quagmire was beyond epic! I actually thought he was gonna do it! (or at least really try to do it).

Oh wait I can't forget the epicness of Stewie!:D He would fire a machine gun at little kids!:ack:

Awesome episode! 5/5:cool:

I nearly gave up on FG after the season premiere but gave this episode a shot. Glad I did because it was really funny.

After seeing the Meg/Chris conclusion, I have more circumstantial evidence for my Seth-Rachel (his sister) theory. Think about the number of times a Seth-voiced character plays opposite a character voiced by his sister in sexual settings?

She might in next weeks episode:D

There was a kid in a batman costume at adam west's house:p:p and no he'll be white again

That's good now if TCS gets cancelled and all its writers get fired we will have 2 solid shows side-by-side and Bob's Burgers can take TCS's timeslot and AD won't have move to the 7:30/6:30c timeslot.

EVERYBODY WINS!:p (except for TCS's fans (which I am a part of) sorry guys:o)

I'm probably the only one who made this connection.

Right before they paint Brian pink the older boys make a Peanuts reference by calling him Snoopy. I couldn't help but think that painting Brian pink was an obscure reference to the 1980 special "Life is a Circus, Charlie Brown" where Snoopy joins a circus dog act and is painted pink. Maybe it's just a really big coincidence but I was making the connection when I first saw promo pictures for this episodes, well before I heard the Snoopy reference.

Actually, since they're picking up 2 new animation shows in 2011, they could extend Animation Domination to another night. If they moved Futurama premieres back to Fox, I could see something like this happening...

Sunday
8.00pm The Simpsons
8.30pm Allen Gregory
9.00pm Family Guy
9.30pm Napoleon Dynamite

Thursday
8.00pm Futurama
8.30pm Bob's Burgers
9.00pm American Dad
9.30pm The Cleveland Show
