Family Guy - "FOX-y Lady" - Talkback [3/22]

If there was ever a time Meg could kick ass, it would've been now, but the writers don't give a crap about stuff like that happening.

No, I didn't see it, I'm just commentating from the looks of the posts.

Seems like the sub-plot concerns Peter and the guys making their own cartoon. That should be pretty good. Might even make up for it if the main plot is weak.

This thread will come dangerously close to the "no discussion of politiks" rule, so peeps best watch it around these here parts.

I really liked the cartoon-making subplot. The constant rejecting of Meg's ideas was funny, though it should have had a pay-off gag (like maybe the network executive making the same suggestions Meg made).

for me stewie has turned totally gay and lost the true evil megalomaniac self that made us fall in love with him and the show. so that upsets me. also i agree this has become to much i do not mind the shots at the republicans but it gets sooooo old after a very shortwhile. it would be different it it were you know DIFFERENT!!!! it is not though every season has a mandatory episode where they attack anything that does not fall into a very specific view is attacked without mercy. it has been said before the writers have turned the show into such a hypocritical piece of crap.

so yes i feel very much the same way about the relentlessness of these iodiotic insults. i do not mind being made fun of but it is a constant thing there is never anything different, and there is rarely ever any contrast. no he is not taking away my opinion, or my freedom to espress myself, but he is belittling it every chance he has, and it upsets me. my opinion is valid and i hate being told otherwise, or being profiled as a certain stereotype "right wing nut jub, with political views as stubborn as a mule". granted that was about texans his views on republicans are much worse. i do not like it, it is my opinion, and if the quality of the show does not improve I.E. less episodes with only gay or republican bashing jokes i will seriously consider not watching the show anymore which i am pretty close to doing now.

oh and i did not like the OJ episode. yes it was different but the writing has become so reliant on either vomit, gay jokes, or republican hatred that it is hard for them to be funny without those hackneyed tools anymore. for me the show is on its last ;egs thye gave it a fun ride but i am very displeased with the quality.

Then stop watching.

Actually between his interest in Susie Swanson and his anti-gay comments in "Family Guy", plus evidence that he went to a straight camp, it appears as if "gay Stewie" isn't sticking around.

Because South Park never done that, right?

Besides, Family Guy did pretty much show that Brian is a hypocrite for having a bias of his own against conservatives, how it was okay for Lois to go after comedian Rush Limbaugh but wrong for her to go after comedian Michael Moore for the same reason.

But that probably flew over the heads of the critics. Pretty good episode.

I'm kind of embarresed to say that I'm not sure what that was supposed to mean. I've got an idea as to what it was supposed to mean. I'll just say this: Did it have something to do with the conversation that Meg and Lois had earlier in the episode?

While I would definitely say that Family Guy has been about 10 times the show that The Simpsons has been this decade. Family Guy really should show The Simpsons a little more respect. Seeing as how without The Simpsons, Family Guy may very well never have come to exist.

I think I said this earlier. Someone going on an obnoxious tirade doesn't need someone else to counter him in order to show what an opinionated hypocrite he is. I think the episode would have been a lot worse off if something like Stewie or Lois had come back at Brian with a counter-opinion every time he opened his mouth. Oftentimes in real life it's easier to let someone say what he has to say without getting involved. I see King of the Hill do this all the time and that's one of the reasons I enjoy the show.

They've done worse.

Pretty good point; The FOX news guy actually seemed better in that situation than Brian. In fact, whenever Seth tries to voice his loony left-wing views through Brian, most of his opponents look better in comparrision.

Maybe I'm just a bit dark, but I think the episode would of been even greater if Peter came and punched Fred Savage in the face and said "That's for St.Anger, you son of a -" after he revealed himself to be Lars.:anime:

Otherwise, this was surprisingly decent, and had a few good laughs, even if the "Can I see you in the kitchen, Chris?" running gags could of been cut back. Who'd of thought that Brian would of been more stubborn when it came to political views?

I missed the episode last night, so I'm catching it on Hulu. I must say the Peter scratching his crotch has to be the funniest FG cutaway in a couple of episodes, plus I really liked the callback to Wasted Talent even though you could see it coming a mile away.

Generally there's not really any difference other than maybe being able to see someone's pores more clearly (which is usually something makeup covers up regardless). It's just an exaggeration for comedic effect.
