Family Guy - "Excellence in Broadcasting" - Talkback [10/3]

Tom starts a broadcast by saying that Diane was shot by an "unknown assailant" and introduces Joyce Kinney as the new anchorwoman.

So, yeah, jarring HD opening is jarring. Cool, but jarring. And...am I the only one who kinda liked Sons of Tucson?

@Metrosparkster: It got cancelled last fall/early this year IIRC, but they only showed the first six episodes and had six more ready that they left to air this past summer.

After that song, I gotta ask: Is there any chance a guy can embrace certain views from both sides?

Okay, after that little moment before the commercial, I know Brian's going back to his old views by the end of the epi.

There was a news report at the beginning with Tom confirming that Diane was killed after committing a series of murders and that she's been replaced by the blonde woman we saw in her flashback last week.

It's been such a good episode. I like dthe msuical number, and the Scooby Doo parody (though it seems the dog looked more like Scooby-Dum or Goober of Goober and the Ghost Chasers).

They also did it in the episode "Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo" in season 10 where the Simpson family goes to an Americanized diner in Tokyo and their Japanese waiter acts American claiming he's "a product of the American education system" and that he "builds poor-quality cars and inferior-styled electronics".

Meh I know people like that, take SpongeBob, I know people dislike that show cuz of the craze. Any who, pretty good episode I hope Seth can keep it up the rest of the season.

So let's review. Brian is a fair weather believer with little or no actual strength to his convictions, Lois was right all along. The viewer should never take his ranting seriously. Therefore Brian must return home and activate the obligatory reset to the status quo, because living with the Griffins and being a liberal is just who he is! Except when it isn't!

.......yyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeaaaaahhhhh.

Ah but wait, Rush Limbaugh was in this episode! I was meant to ignore the logic and be amused by the guest star's very presence, allowing that to prop the whole mess up for me all by itself. My bad.

Good gags: Brian staring at the bag. Limbaugh saving Brian & the bit with the cold cut left in the book. The Scooby Doo skit, even though it's been done to death. Peter repeatedly switching sides during the dinner table argument. Stewie breaking the fourth wall to make fun of Fox for the entire idea.

On a meta scale though, this was dreadful.

This was fair. Not great, not poor but reasonably entertaining. Loved the HD opening and the musical number wasn't bad. I wouldn't put it in my personal top 10 song list but it was still well staged. I'd love to hear it raw without the sound effects intruding. Why in the world isn't there a Family Guy soundtrack yet?

I wonder what the ratings for the ep. will be since it was being advertised during the NFL game (caught it by coincidence while testing the feed on different browsers) and on of course 'The Rush Limbagh Show'.

Great episode :anime:
My favorite parts are the Scooby Doo parody,Stan cameo, and American appliances breaking along with a mooing cat XD
The New opening looks nice
