Family Guy - "April in Quahog" - Talkback [4/11]

The modernwarefare 2 bit was not funny at all

this episode continues to highlight the downward spiral of family guy. Yet i still watch. I now feel pity for those who still watch The Simpsons who remember it from its earlier seasons from their youth

I disagree. I found Peter playing Modern Warfare 2 funny.

I disagree with this as well. This season is a lot funnier than some of the previous seasons. Only two episodes out of this season were kind of "meh"ish to me.

It was a random clip at the end of the show. Even more random then their crappy cutaways. The whole thing centered on Peter asking what buttons to push on the game and accidental team killing. Nobody talks like that on Xbox Live, its usually people saying both f words every five seconds. It seemed more like a commercial for the game, especially with the actual graphics from the game. It just wasn't funny

The improv episode was one of the worst things to ever air on television. Most of the third acts are completely unrelated to the first act, and aren't funny at all. The cutaways are even more obscure and make even less sense. Also, i've noticed they've been relying on more celebrity cameos as of late. Anne Hathaway and Jason Mraz in the newest episode, Charlie Sheen and Elijah Wood in the episode before it. I remember when it was notable that Drew Barrymore had an appearance in one of the first episodes of the revived family guy. Now they get cameos every episode. The Simpsons also started doing this more often around the same season as Family Guy is currently on now

I guess you can join the hate FG club, but the first part to join the club is to rarely post in these threads. (If you do not get what I am saying, if you do not like Family Guy, do not watch it and try not intrude into these threads).

Barroll Roll it's obvious you don't like the show? Why keep watching it?

Anyway I'd say this season easily tops last season, even though there were a few episodes last season that are all-time favorites of mine. So far there have been no episodes this year that are so bad that I don't want to watch them again, which was true of stuff like "The Juice is Loose". Ugh.

Really? Huh. I guess the times I've played on XBL weren't normal.

Or you just didn't find it funny.

The rest of that post were just the same generic complaints you see from anyone else that doesn't like the show. I have not really noticed the cameos though. I'm not bothered by it though.

Four words to give you an idea of why people are overacting: Not Without My Anus.

As for me, the episode had a lot of promise, but it went downhill when the whoe "black hole" thing is revealed to be an April Fools joke (what with the rest of the act, in which Peter trying to win back his kids after saying that he doesn't want to be around them during the final seconds of the Earth, lacking the great humor of the two previous acts).

I'm not going to jump to conclusions if the crossovers were part of the joke or not (since, I did mention that the crossover may be a different episode, with Fox having some major confusion when it came to the episode's press release). However, if it is indeed a joke, then this is probably as bad as what I mentioned above, which is basically an April Fool's joke that South Park pulled in 1998.

I think this sums up my problems with the episode's plot. None of it felt coherent. Even for Family Guy. The plotline with Peter hating the kids could have been handled any other way in any other episode. It just felt tacked on.

Lots of little funny stuff in-between, but without a bigger plot to hold it all together, it just wasn't up to the show's usual standards.
