Extreme Neck Problem

This suddenly occur this morning since I woke up. Last night everything was normal.

I have a horrible neck pain possibly within the center of my back, the Spinal Cord. Whenever I try to slightly move my head forward, from side to side, my shoulders around or my body itself, it aches and hurt. If I leave it still, it aches. The pain reaches from behind near my cerebrum and down to my shoulder. The pain is more severe on the middle of my neck within the spinal cord. It feels like snapping apart if I move my head roughly.

I also have been having this extreme head ache for weeks whenver I exercise behind my head. It spread all the eyes to my eyes, and I've been having little pain soon after. It got better.

I tried going to the doctor, but apparently they always make excuses not to get my head checked up. I was informed by them that I have not enough sugar in my blood from my information. False.

Any urgent help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Is your neck stiff, too? Have you possibly felt a bit sick these last few days?
It's a bit odd that it would come on just overnight like that. Usually if one injures their neck the day before there will at least be some soreness.

I had something similar a few years ago. I ended up in physical therapy for a couple of months. It turns out that I had done something to a big muscle that connects up in the back of the head. Its one that connects the head, neck and shoulder into the upper back. When the therapist worked out that knot, I swear I heard a popping sound in my head and he felt the muscle snap under his hands. I could have kissed that man for getting rid of my pain that lasted months! It was just muscular. I thought I had a brain tumor or something wrong with my neck. I hope you find a solution to your pain!

I'm perfectly fine these past months.

The only problem I have had these couple days is that the nerve in my neck been giving me some shocking pain for a mere second. Only occurred twice so far.

My neck isn't sore, it just really irritating. Just a slight lift or movement from my head is really painful.

I will go to the doctor after I change to a new doctor.

And thank you skbrmom. I hope it does get better soon.

muscle would be the fisrt thing that would come to mind considering how this just suddenly came on. its that trapazious muscle that runs from the center of your back and on up thru the back of your head that is the largest stronget muscle up there in that area that could have just become inflammed by the way you slept(the trap is actually kind of diamond shaped and does run to the outter neck area and the shoulder,at least from the center outward). OR it could be indicative of a deeper more spinal related problem that just showed itself when you slept at a particular angle that you normally don;t? either way, something IS inflammed up there. i would see your doc and ask for at the very least a c spine x ray series just to see if your vertebrae are all well aligned. but having an MRI done on your c spine would really see the inner structures much more clearly, espescially if thay use some type of contrasting agent.

i would try using some level of an anti inflammitory med like aleeve(naproxen sodium) or advil and see if this doesn't help some. if it does, you would know that at least some of your problem is just from some level of inflammation(not unusual with just plain old muscle inflammation or spinal nerves that are being affected in some way too,ice can also help for many reasons). some problems that are actually spinal related wont show themselves til something sets it off. if you slept with your head tilted towars a particular shoulder,it could have been a trigger that is trying to tell you something that needs further evaluation. if your current doc wont take this seriously, then seek out a much more caring primary doc who will.

they are out there, you just have to track them down. asking friends who they see for their primary care and how satisfied they are with the care they recieve really is the best way to really find the best types of docs for your needs. then check out your ins co and see if they are within your network of docs. this is how i have found some of the very best specialists for my many medical problems, word of mouth. if this has simply gone on for more than a few days,it does need to be further evaluated and checked out for possible problems. hopefully this is just an overall trap or other muscle that is just inflammed, but you do need to find out at some point. good luck and please keep us posted, FB
