I also have this audio drop-out problem intermittently...
(using 9200 connected to Sony KDSR50XBR1 via HDMI cable)
When I rewind the PVR a few seconds, the sound is there...

Also, if I listen to the AC3 audio out from the 9200 to my home theater receiver, it seems there is a slight delay in the audio (annoying as all hell...)

I have found many threads on this subject in Dish and DirecTV sites as well... and it seems to point to the reliability of the HDMI cable (and versions of HDMI at both ends, handshaking, bla bla bla)...

I was using the *crappy* free DVI/HDMI wire B3V gave us with the 9200...
I bought a 40$ better quality HDMI cable... guess what... problem still happens... and there is NO way I am getting suckered into a $100plus HDMI wire just to test it out...

My 9200 has started flasing both red record lights but it is locked up, no picture or sound
I have rebooted from the front panel power button and it shows the TV1 green light for a few minutes then shuts off then it shows the TV1 green light for a few minutes then all lights go out then goes back to both record lights flashing??
Shouldn't I be able to go to menu and then piont dish even with no sats connected?
otherwise how could you ever aim it

Your post makes the assumption that BEV has software engineers that write the firmware for their receivers (I have no idea if they do). If I was to guess, Echostar (I think they make the 92xx series?) writes all the firmware, and they concentrate on fixes for Dish network (due to volume alone).

My assumption, which has no evidence to prove......

Lost last night had the worst audio dropouts i've heard. Sometimes it was in the recording, so backing up didn't help, sometimes it was just my usual dropouts.
Called evu about it, waste of time. They won't replace it and won't refund my money.
He says its a "compatability issue" and the technical dept is working on a fix.

Watching a recorded concert from HDNet right now. I'm getting numerous audio dropouts per minute for a bit and then it will play for a minute without any and then a whole whack more. This thing would have already been smashed with a hammer if it didn't cost $600!

the 9200 ota tuner didn't recognise most canadian channels
and this tuner is digital only, no analog

Basically no service provider (other than Videotron who will try, but not guarantee) officially support HDMI as a connection. There are simply too many issues - if you can get it to work - fine - if not - here's a post on the issues:

With my audio dropouts, I notice it gets worse whenever there is increased hard disk activity. I've also been able to "make it happen" jut by hitting the guide button which I assume causes a brief hard disk access. It's like during it's multitasking, audio is the first thing it drops to keep up with everything that its doing.

This discussion thread is for owners to discuss the new ExpressVu HD PVR when it becomes available.

I will update this thread when we have specs and details.

Any posts discussing when it will be available or from NON-owners will be deleted and the poster will receive an infraction.

Update: See Bev 9242 HD-PVR for details and for NON-owners to discuss.

I have had a 9242 running all day now in the office and the delay varies.

HD to HD takes a little longer than SD to SD right now....

I have a 9242 with HDMI and have no problems at all with audio. Maybe the DPP equipment does help avoid this problem?

If you decide to switch, expect an installation charge, even though all cables etc are existing.

With your history of problems you may well get these charges reversed but just be aware.

Tom,
I expect the HD channels to look poor, it is the SD channels that do not fill the screen of my SD set with TV2 and look extraordinarily lousy.

LOL, I am luck; barely pealed right corner and realized immediately what you just described. Just the little details people ignore that can piss people off. I think they do it on purpose!!!

Just deleted a lot of posts.

This thread is for owners of the 9242 to discuss the receiver.

If you want to discuss installation, we have an entire forum to do that and if you don't own it then please use the potential buyers thread

In the interview with BEV's VP of S&M that hugh posted, they alluded to Dish network's "hybrid" services, which I believe is called DishOnline. It will be very interesting if BEV introduces something similar to this in early 2008.

Low signal levels will affect performance of HD Audio Sync.

I cured ALL my 9200 issue with switching to Dish Pro equipment..

I am using DPP equipment with my 9242 and I am not exagerating about the 7 - 13 second channel changes. I have seen a 622 (the equivalent) work on Dish Network and the channels changes are virtually instantaneous. I think it is the new smart card BEV is using. The ROM 240 does not work well with the Nagra 2 stream.
