Hi, I have a poorly Shubunkin goldfish who has been ill for some time but as he was feeding I have left him be but now he hardly moves, opting to lie at the bottom of the tank, he struggles swimming and looks in distress.
I have to face the fact I have to ease his suffering and put him to sleep, which I am heartbroken at. I know it's daft to be emotional about a fish but I have had him for 6 years, and you get attached!
Anyway, I have read conflicting advice about which method to use, I was leaning towards putting him in a container and freezing him, but also read that using alcohol is a good way for him to go as it acts like an aneasthetic which will quickly overwhelm him.
Does anyone have good advice for me?
Thank you for taking the time to read my question.
