Euthanasia for my fish?

i heard clove oil is also a way to use, but i would say do not boil it, or use a priest... its your pet, wither put it in a container with vodka or clove oil, it would die quickly, and painlessly.
you could always try medicines from you fish shop, but it sounds serious illness.

Hi, I have a poorly Shubunkin goldfish who has been ill for some time but as he was feeding I have left him be but now he hardly moves, opting to lie at the bottom of the tank, he struggles swimming and looks in distress.

I have to face the fact I have to ease his suffering and put him to sleep, which I am heartbroken at. I know it's daft to be emotional about a fish but I have had him for 6 years, and you get attached!

Anyway, I have read conflicting advice about which method to use, I was leaning towards putting him in a container and freezing him, but also read that using alcohol is a good way for him to go as it acts like an aneasthetic which will quickly overwhelm him.

Does anyone have good advice for me?

Thank you for taking the time to read my question.

you need to take him out of the tank and use a priest on him.A priest is what trout fishermen use to cosh the trout.Very very quick.

won't it take ages to freeze him? He'd be suffering for a long time, just pour some vodka in his tank poor goldy :(

instead of alcohol use Methylated Spirits (its Cheaper). using this will make your fish become so intoxicated it will die in a matter of seconds. also dont boil it. Would you like to be boiled?

Apparently, you can drop them into boiling water and they die very quickly (and no, no comments about eating them afterwards, please)
