Well lets see. Just look at the numbers of callers on the reality TV shows, it is truely astounding. It's talked about the following day on radio, blogs on the net and even right here on answers. Often with answers reaching 30+. Where questions on real issues get far less. 1 point for the writers. Binge Drinking, well this is a no brainer. It's all over the news, and in every town and city. Just talk to your local police, I think you will find that who do not drink, are in the minority, especially amoung the young. You can also walk into just about any pub at noon and find the "regulars" already on the ju ju. 2 pints for writers. Obesity is not at the epidemic proportions it is in the US but it is 2nd. The UK is the fatest nation in the EU. And when you see schools trying to serve quality lunchs only to be usurped by fat mothers taking take away orders at the fence. I'm afraid it doesn't inspire much confidence. 3 points to the writers. Generally unfriendly, is a way of life here. Just try this little experiment. Walk down the street in a town where you don't know anyone, or outside your neighbourhood, and while your walking say hello with a smile to people. Count how many say hello and smile back. I bet it's less than 50%. I have tried this on a few occasions and found the results amazing. As well, considering these travel writers are British, I don't think it's a case of not visiting the country.
What is truely sad, is that we don't believe things like this, and talk about tarring with the same brush, and "I don't do that, so it must not be true". It's like closing your eyes when being raped, pretending it's not happening.
