"Eden of the East" Talkback (Spoilers)

Ep 7
Uhh teh heck? Even if it was some kind of illusion thing I don't get it heh. BTW what's Akira gonna do with a 1.5 billion dollar hotel?

I don't even really get the point of buying it. Could have just had Juiz bribe the hotel clerk to delay her without spending all that money on the hotel.

But seeing what Kuroha was doing while I think she's probably got a screw loose. I really don't have a problem if what she's using Juiz to do is track down rapists and then lead them on and cut off their penis. I think rapists tend to get off too easy in the US and since this anime is about Japan and trying to improve the country well Japan is notorious for having pretty lenient laws towarRAB rapists. I know they've cracked down a bit in the past few years, but I think it's still regarded as somewhat lax.

So hey if she's not just just finding sleazy guys trying to pick her up and is specifically targetting rapists then good for her.

You know, I was thinking that too. I thought either that, or shock her with the power of his Johnny. I dunno, Haha. I'd like to think that there's an Akira/Saki thing going on after the kiss and all, but it seems like Akira's solutions all involve his impulsive nature.

Basquash! may be compared to GL in terms of mass epicness, what with giant robots and what not, but Eden of the East may be the story part of it that proves it's epicness. Akira = ftw.

Also, I don't think he murdered all those people. >.> As I said and others mentioned, I'm thinking he's just apart of that organization that helps people or something.

Hey it worked for James Bond

Man, I was literally about to write this show off because growing wings was just so out of nowhere and wrong before they showed that this it was an illusion (Which of course made me go "THAT IS FREAKING AWESOME!")

EDIT: It just hit me that I was questioning logic in a show where apparently 20,000 people can be transported to Dubai without anyone noticing.

No I don't think he killed all those people but I do think he was one of the "bad guys" and is going to have to come to terms with it at some point. Oh and I hope Saki is awesome. Akira is my favorite at this point and he will probably stay my favorite but it would be great if she was amazing and not some damsel who neeRAB to be protected all the time or saved every other episode. Then again this is the guy responsible for the Major...

Good heavens, the mass naked child events really did occur o_o

This show's surreal

Naked people out in public that are okay with that fact, throwing things at the White House fountain, people donating pants on the street, everybody in Washington D.C. suddenly fluent in Japanese...

Oh and paper mache stop-motion endings that I don't even want to begin to imagine how much time was spent cutting out each frame

I'm not sure. Does that mean you like it? o.o If so, then good job! If not, then =[

Yeah, and I was about to say; this is the same group responsible for creating the Major. I'm not worried about our female lead much, but Akira is too badass.

Awesome to see this topic has expanded to a couple pages after the first episode.

I am!

I mean, the dude's all sorts of crazy, and she's all 'Hey, you're cool, do you want to trade passports?' like they're baseball carRAB or something.

Then she just leaves her luggage behind like she has the money to waste...

I just saw the first episode a few hours ago, and I have to say, MY MIND WAS BLOWN. The animation was beautiful and I liked that they had english VOs for the American characters.

I feel durab for asking this but...

ep7 spoilers
The wings were clearly apart of the illusion but was the rapist guy under the mask the real deal, or was that still Saki's friend being carried away? ...Or was the entire scene from the point Saki entered, an illusion..?

Anyway, regardless, I'm loving this show.

Saki just seem way too trusting/accepting of the whole thing, but I love the character design. The Honey & Clover thing just screams that she could be a sister of Yamada. ANN says her VA is Saori Hayami, but it doesn't ring a bell. Doesn't have a lot of things listed and is only 17 so pretty new.

Big props to Production IG on getting the look of DC down though. That was pretty impressive. As for the english VA's, I think it was just random americans that the Japanese VA casting company knows or something It seems like Japanese dramas do that a lot when they have a small bit part you want played by a foreigner. They kinda scrape up whoever they can find locally who speaks English, but isn't always an actual 'actor'.

Or when they film overseas a lot of time they'll just hire locals to be the extras. I remeraber reading the Hana Yori Dango movie did that for a few of their location scenes. The production company would be like "oh hey wanna be in a movie? and bam there ya go."

I gotta agree on the whole understanding Japanese thing though. Saki must have some pretty awesome luck because sometimes you can't find cab drivers who understand English...

Haha. So true, and I don't think she's probably too worried about leaving behind some clothes. For all we know, she could be in a well-off family or something.

The understanding Japanese thing was odd, but I figure it's more of an anime understanding or something. D.C. really did look good, though.

Yeah. Basically, the people she's killed have been rapists.

Anyway, found this little bit to be interesting:
