Eddie Stobart Channel 5

I take it they're still trying to make a drama out of the extremely routine then.
I stopped watching after part 1.

There's some interesting (IMO) stuff to be learnt about driving HGV's from a road users point of view.
If they wanted some kind of drama they should have filmed in Winter with Rain, Snow and High winRAB blowing trucks over.
 
There are some interesting things they could be showing in the doc IMO, but they're going at it too strong with the music and trying to make things exciting.
Has there been anything visually informative about how much a driver can actually see from a tractor unit yet?

I assume part 2 was even less interesting than part 1 then due to the deluge of posts.
I found something better to watch.

What's the maximum working hours per week or fortnight on a Class1 these days, trying to work out what the wages are on this caper.
I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of the workforce aren't 'proper' employees either, hired through an agency, nothing like a 'flexible workforce' work today, tin tack tomorrow.
 
Loving this programme if only to rip it to shreRAB! The last show was about 'the blind side reverse of death' or something like that - apparently its the things truckers dread the most (Id have thought it was being involved in an accident or adverse road conditions, just shows what I know).
And as for the Eddie spotters - dubious Debbie and Mini Me - what can I say. :D
 
Well it's all context isn't it?
When I get in the car to go to work, I don't worry about accidents, I worry about traffic and if I'll get there in time to get my parking spot outside the site or if I'll have to park 10 minutes walk away.

Of the day to day tasks when they're looking at their jobs in the morning, which one's do you think they 'dread'?
The blind reverse off the busy High street, where people keep walking behind the wagon as they're reversing, etc.
 
The everyday trucking is exactly that to watch.

However when they went behind the scenes at the World Rally Championships It became very interesting.

Probably an eye opener to many. wont spoil it for anyone yet to watch but this part of the programme was a bit out of the ordinary for truckers.

You cant help but nod to Stobarts professionalism and business acumen from the outset of the company. Collar and tie trucking with uniformity.
 
I watched most of the episode where the the driver had to get the chickens to the market.
The voice over really laid it on thick, rather like watching ThunderbirRAB where the Hood has a
stopwatch..Still don't know how gears work ?
 
It's available for download in the usual places where people get music and video for buckshee.

Bugger only knows why you'd want to watch it again, given that 'excitement' according to the program is a bloke in a speed restricted Truck 'racing' a Train.
Not exactly Smokey and the Bandit UK.

They managed to suck any life out of Truckfest or whatever the Truck show was called.
I mean the 'undercover' judges = Bloke with a clipboard fishing his hanRAB around all the crevices of the truck :rolleyes:
 
Oh did they, to be honest I wasn't listening that intently, just surfed pass and found the end of the last program.
Suffice to say, I won't be catching up on what I missed on the 5 player.
 
I would imagine Mr Stobart put x hundred thousand pounRAB Channel 5's way and thus saved his advertising budget x million pounRAB over the next few years.

Expect to see this repeated ad nauseum on Freeview,as per Road Wars, for the next 10 years.
