Eddie Stobart Channel 5

Here's a teaser from my telly mag about the next episode.

"A driver takes on a delicate load of cream cakes, but after contending with many roundabouts, she is unsure if the cargo will have survived intact."

I can hardly wait!

So I won't.

It manages to hype up the 'terrifying prospect' of a delay on the M25, or a shed load on the M6 into something akin to the Chernobyl disaster. It reminRAB me of those terrible game shows in the 1970's when the top prize was some sort of kitchen gadget, like a hostess trolley, or a knitting machine, unveiled to a loud ''Ooooooh !!!'' from the audience. The effort the narrator puts into trying to make it sound exciting is commendable, it really is. The man deserves an Oscar.

On a more worrying note, I passed a Stobart wagon parked up in a layby yesterday. I found myself trying to read the name on the front. Is there any hope for me?:eek:

Who, what, where?
I know that there are people think growing up in South East London counts as an abusive childhood, but I'm not one of them.
I'd ask you to find the relevant posts with this 'despicable' behaviour, but I suspect it'll be a long wait.

F'me talk about forgone conclusion.
Short of turning the bugger over that's going to be as interesting as our Tanker driver diverting to another depot.

Cream cakes seem to get Greggs and the like without problems.
Have these people ever been in the back of a wagon going down the road, it's a very bouncy and uncomfortable experience.
Cream cakes aren't exactly a live load like liquiRAB or powders that are going to shift around in the tankers either.

Oh I'd have been interested in a program dealing with prime movers and unusual loaRAB, might see some real problem solving.
Unipowers, Tractomas and the like, but I suppose you've got to have your household names and 'characters' although none of the characters in this are doing anything for me.

Is there a thread for Gears and Tears, I haven't found it yet.

Tries to be a UK 'Ice Road Truckers', but with none of the ice, driver's, drama, etc

and there is a subtle difference in mileage, 'he only has 2 hours and it's 100 miles up the M6...' will he make it in time?

During the programme it mentioned that Eddie was bought out by William Stobart (Eddie's son) and Andrew Tinkler. Stobart's have a contract to delived Tesco products.
They have also teamed up with Tescos to promote road safety
The first programme seemed to be background introduction to the series.

Hey, the lady driver was terrified of heights and had to traverse the Dartford Crossing.

Twenty minutes later and this incredible feat was bravely accomplished.

Well done.

Picture a lorry stuck in a jam on the m25 en-route to a supermarket...

...not exactly Ice Road trucker stuff is it.

Programs following cops, ambulances, heir hunters and the like can throw up the odd situation of interest (just) but road haulage is basically long hours of plodding up and down motorways at 56mph delivering stuff. About as gripping as a test card.
