E61i on Nokia USA (Expected Soon!)

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1044411

This thread has the original fake picture plus Roncito's added measures of fakeness. The person who posted this picture does NOT deserve an apology.

Pepsi Man posted the pictures of the real E61i in another thread, and I believe only mr creativity didn't believe it was real.

Just for reference.

Ill not argue the point of ram vs. rom again, what my point was is that this really doesnt seem like an "upgrade" to me as apart from a crappy camera they didnt do anything else to "improve" the model. I do hope im wrong but i havent seen anything yet.

I remember that photo shopped picture as well but I think the initial "real" E61i photos were up for debate as well. I wasnt the one that posted them and accepting the apology was a joke but I remember people questioning the directional pad and smaller menu buttons.

I can get that thread too as I just saw it. Moment, please.

Found it. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1063981&highlight=e61i

A 2mp camera may not seem very good, but as compared to the E61 and E62, it is certainly better than nothing. It even trumps the E70 since it has a flash as well. The device is also thinner than the E61 and I love those dedicated keys!

Depending on which feature pack the E61i is running, it could possible outperform the E61 in several different ways as well. Nonetheless, I guess it's understandable that this seems like a minor upgrade, but for someone like me who could never buy the E61 for the lack of camera, the E61i might be perfect.

A couple of nice upgrades on the E61i, but I really wish it was confirmed to have US 3G and was narrower. The thickness was never a problem with my E61, but I would love to have something similar in width to the Dash, M600i or even blackjack. I think having a phone that is thinner, but long and wide doesn't make it any easier to hold or pocket. I don't think the two tone color scheme is as nice as the solid silver. Just my thoughts.

What a waste of an upgrade. They should've at least made it a bit less wide... the samsung i600/blackjack has almost the same features and its 20mm smaller in width. i agree with mlee, i'd rather have it a little thicker than have it so stupidly wide.

oh well, the E65 was a nice surprise announcement. i guess i'll have to go with a non-qwerty phone.

So basically, the only upgrade is a 2.0 mp cam. No FP1. Nokia didn't even bother to put in BT2.0 in the phone. Seriously, Nokia @ 3GSM was a complete bummer except for the Nokia - Youtube agreement.

The width shouldn't even be open for debate since the difference between the E61 and E61i won't even be noticeable, even if you hold a ruler to it. I can't remember the time I was able to notice 3/10 of a millimeter, much less had this added "width" be a problem. If the E61 was usable, the E61i will be the exact same, if not better do to the thinner profile.

Honestly, I don't understand why people are complaining at all. Nokia could've just NOT updated the E61 at all?

I am not personally complaining about the E61i being wider than an E61. My preference would actually be a narrower phone with the same thinkness as the E61 ala the Dash or Q.
