E61i on Nokia USA (Expected Soon!)

hmm...maybe not...our friendly neighborhood symbian-guru has reported differently.

"adding a 2MP camera, making it thinner, adding a bunch of near-useless dedicated buttons and HSDPA (over just UMTS). Also updated to S60v3 FP1. Available 2Q 2007 @ ~400 Euros ($518 USD"

...that means resizable fonts. afaik as that's a feature within fp1

Nope, it's a tiny, tiny bit wider, at least according to gsmarena (though that may not be accurate) that isn't what bothers me as much as I was hoping for a faster proccesor or more ram/rom or something. It just feels like the same malibu stacie only now she has a hat!!!! (it's a simpsons reference) and Im not convinced that it's gonna have better talk time with a smaller battery (though they claim it has the same capacity) I guess i was expecting to much...

That's where I read that it had FP1. But the Nokia site says S60 9.1 and FP1 devices are OS v9.2.
I liked the fact that its thinner, but seriously, is it worth waiting till july/august and spend 500$ for the cam and thinness.

according to nokia, it's a "refresh". i think they just first and foremost wanted to make it look a little better...a little less...vanilla.

besides, considering it's shown on the nokia usa page, it's a bigger "upgrade" compared to the E62.

I can see current E61 users upgrading if they've become dependant on that particular form factor. I had one for quite some time and I must say I missed it for the longest time. I'm actually using a BBPearl as my main phone ( ) and I think the suretype technology allows me to type faster than any other qwerty I've ever seen so I've broken the emotional connection to my E61...but some cant.

e61i is mine i m telling you guys now the moment it is on sale i will buy it

i loved the e61 but the only thing i was missin was the camera and this one has camera cant beat it

NOKIA I LOVE YOU FOR THIS PHONE !!!!

me? considering they tacked an "i" onto an existing model and use the phrase "refreshed design" on their website, i'm not expecting it to do anything really. nothing new at least.

i'd be surprised if they upgraded the RAM, gave it a faster processor, and didn't bother to differentiate it from a lesser model with nothing more than a single letter...that'd be pretty stupid marketing.

i think the notable differences are going to be the new dedicated keys, the 2mp cam, and the new appearance...and that's about it.

lmao...i feel that way everytime I pick it up. It was given to me at work and I'm expected to be "seen" with it at my regional office whenever I'm there. I'm one of 3 district managers and I email constantly throughout the day so it's a mandatory evil. They dont care that the symbians can do all that and more...they just want us reporting with blackberries....felt kind of sad as I just fired up my E50 for the first time in 5 days when we were discussing the sub-folders.

It'll be a good exercise to prime you for your first FP1 device. If I sell my N73 now, I'll be using a 6260 until I pick up the N95. In both cases, FP1 will feel like something completely new and amazing after being away from 3rd Edition for so long.

I think NOkiaUSA's expected soon page has more cell phones on it than their current lineup . . . c'mon Nokia, move some phones off "coming soon"

Alright, how bout this thread?
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1043755

I can do this all day. The newbs were ripping it up that week.

I don't know if it's in that thread, but someone found the original picture from a listing on eBay for an E61, which the OP of that thread (or his buddy) apparently added a camera to the back of it with, lightened the picture, and added an "i" to the E62 box.

I don't like the idea that they switched to micro sd from mini sd. What does this battery look like ? I've never heard of a BP-4L before.
