E61i on Nokia USA (Expected Soon!)

Similar to the N93i variant...if they planned on putting fp1 on it they would probably rename it to the E63 or something like that rather than continue the same model. It's the same motor as stated w/ some minor tweaks and improvements. i think the directional pad is the biggest improvement....and possibly the reported 50mb's of available RAM.

Nokia's price for the N95 was around $700 and the E90 was $1000. The N95 may be around $1000 through the retailers when it launches, but the E90 will then probably be somewhere around $1300+ as well. When the price of the N95 begins to rest and come back down to around $700, then I will buy, but the E90 will never get that low.

lol....I'm flying around 8 open tabs on my explorer and I thought I read that somewhere. In fact, it may have only been rumored here on hofo! Oh well...wishful thinking I guess.

The e61i doesnt seem like an "improvment" at all. From what i've read its a slightly bigger phone with a smaller battery and less onboard ram. anyone know if its using the same processor?

I remember when someone here on HOFO leaked a picture of the E61i sometime last year before it was even announced or even known, we all made fun of that guy including your's truly. We all said it was photoshop and what a bad hoax and a bunch of BS, I think it's safe to say we owe this guy an apology.

There was a fake photoshopped image posted that was mega fake whom deserved to be made fun of. The other real pictures weren't ridiculed though, AFAIK.

*sigh*

For the last time. RAM is NOT the same as internal memory. While you're right that the E61i has less internal memory (60mb vs 75mb), only the amount of available RAM is known on the E61 (20-22mb on a clean boot).

Continuing my point, internal memory of such sizes doesn't really matter, provided it's over 30mb or so. I used an E70 with 75mb of internal memory and went to an N73 with 35mb of internal memory available without any problems. 60mb would be plenty for me.

According to this site, the E61i will have 50MB Free User RAM

http://www.e-series.org/archives/284#more-284

That's how I read it anyway. When I see the term "free user" I presume it applies to RAM, not internal storage memory.

Since it compares "free user" memory to MicroSD capabilities, it sounds like they mean internal memory. 60mb built in with about 10mb being tied up with preinstalled software.

The thread had a good picture of the E61i. Everyone was all over the guy like a bum on a baloney sandwich.

I'll be the first to admit I was wrong.
