E50 - New Firmware 06.41.3.0 available via NSU

06.41.3.0 is the most current and the one I upgraded to 3 weeks ago or whenever it was released. It fixed the popping sounds and flickering icons but has yet to correct a whole host of problems.
1. When holding the phone in the proper speaking position it creates a sound similar to a wind tunnel for both the speaker and the listener. I'm forced to hold my phone with the bottom portion directly above my cheak. I dont have this issue while connected to BT so I'm hoping it's not Hardware related. I've heard others mention the same so who knows. Mine is made in Finland BTW.

2. Speaker phone issue is still their as well. At least once a day I'll be using my bluetooth headset when out of nowhere my phone broadcast through the phones speaker and through the HS. After the call is finished the phone stays completely locked and i'm forced to remove the battery.

other than those 2 very annoying issues it's been stable.
 
Yes, hopefully it also gets rid of the 'Memory Full, Please close some applications and try again' and the 'Feature not supported' stupid error messages. Even those when I have no applications open, just 'Standby'.
 
I think ppl have exaggerated the WARMING earpiece to HOT earpiece. They all do it and it's just a little warming effect and it's cause of the material you hold to your ear being metal. It's not firmware related. Some ppl don't even notice it.
 
Ditto here. And I haven't noticed my earpiece getting hot either. Mind you the longest call I had on it so far wasn't more than 20 minutes. The only thing I noticed were some software related bugs (calendar screen saver not staying active) and sometimes a slight popping sound during a call here on the Rogers network.
 
Should not have been. If I run the updater, I get a message - 'you already have the latest firmware, would you like to reinstall it again?' But I have not checked recently. Sometimes due to network issues, it may come up blank. Try again over next few days. It downloads about 70MB and then takes 15-20 minutes. Ensure you do NOT lose power during the update, after the download completes.
 
its not hot unless it burns your ears or becomes unbearable.
it is warmish and it serves its purpose in winter.
 
Anybody confirm the 'E' for edge not showing or showing? In my case the connection seems pretty faster than normal gprs but the 'E' that showed earlier now does not seem to show with the new firmware. And I know my operator has enabled EDGE across his entire network.
 
haven't noticed anythign except my phone has been rendered formatted

it feels a bit "teh snappy" but it's probably just placebo.
strictly speaking, the difference in numerical figures between the two firmwares isn't that great, so there's probably nothing significantly different, although i'm banking on the fact that the speakerphone bug is fixed (since this was a largely documented bug on nokia's discussion forums).

I'm a very light user of the E50. I actually use it withotu any memory card to gain battery life and speed.
 
To get around this issue:
1. Avoid picking up the phone at the first ring.
2. Avoid using the green call key to answer - set anykey answer to on and use any key other than the green call key.

I have a strong suspicion that this issue is linked to the slow contacts problem. It is searching the contacts when the call comes in and if you answer just at that time, it glitches into speakerphone mode and hangs. Can be extremely embarrassing.
 
I would think if you werent connected to EDGE you would really feel it. I'm rarely out of an EDGE network but when I am it becomes painfully obvious.

.....sounds like FN poprocks are stuck in my earpiece for crying out loud!
 
I had installed SMS Accelerator on mine without knowing this - and it never told me it was an unnecessary install.

I never had the hot earpiece or speakerphone problems either. I still think this is a quality control or hardware issue not firmware.
