Dubs that changed the music for the better?

Agree. The Super Saiyan 2 Gohan and S.S Trunks theme's are not so good. But, oddly enough: Goku truning Super Saiyain, Vegeta Truning Super Saiyan and Goku becoming Super Saiyan 3 have pretty nice theme's.
It starts out small and grows upon that.

I just like when Faulconer focus at the moment of a scene.

Yeah, Faulconer's Goku Super Saiyan theme is a personal favorite of mine. You just know something big is going down, and then the music cresendos as--oh snap!--a legendary Super Saiyan has been born! Really gives off a mystical, hopeful, yet almost sad vibe.

I love the intense piano of Vegeta's Super Saiyan theme. It's rough and dramatic and fits his character well.

And who can forget the awesome Super Saiyan 3 tune? Has a similar mystical tone about it, but a bit more upbeat and forceful.

I can understand people not having a taste for Faulconer's music, but I think many of the fans hate it more because it replaced Kikuchi's score than that they consider it "bad" music.

I mean heck, I don't really like Kikuchi's score, but I'll gladly admit that I like some of his pieces.

Here's Goku S.S.3 theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLwchljYhP8
Personally, hear that version being played on the piano, much better:

(Make it, hear every Faulconer's music being played on the piano)

But yeah, I do enjoy some of the JP OST version too.

That, I somewhat agree. Even though I do enjoy the FUNi OST dubs and even though there are some tracks for some moments ( action, calming, etc), there are many times I did wish FUNi OST didn't have music it. I did listen to the dubs with the JP OST track in it, sounRAB much better. But, at times, the music didn't fit right even with the JP OST track.

But, there are moments where FUNi did a better job than the JP version when it comes to moments.

I MY OPINION, the dub History of Trunks. There's one scene where FUNi really nailed it right and the JP one completely missed it. IN MY OPINION I MEAN, I'M NOT SAYING I'M RIGHT, ITS MY OPINION.

Maybe some of you know, but if you don't know...Gohan's death.

I can't recall the JP music during that scene, but I think FUNi did a good job with the soundtrack there. The moaning guitar riRAB really helped drive home the soraberness of the scene.

Most of the music from the Bardock and Trunks specials English soundtrack were pretty irritating, but that scene was handled well.

Well, what I mean about History of Trunks scene is where FUNi took "OFF" the music and let the scene play for itself. Unlike the JP, it had some music playing, which, killed the moment. IMO.

Personally, I'm little surprise the JP version didn't do that. Out of all ppl, I really thought the JP version will do that.

I'm gonna go ahead and give congrats to everyone who's mentioned the dub DBZ music. Contrary to otaku opinion, there were quite alot of great songs that worked better for the series. SSJ Goku theme, SSJ Vegeta Theme, SSJ3 theme, Vegeta's theme, Perfect Cell's theme, Buu's Theme, that one Namek music I don't know the name of, and that peaceful music that played at the end of the Freeza saga. Funimation might have been had flaws in how they used the music, but I can't see how you can call all of it bad simply because it replaced the original score. IMHO, I prefer most of Bruce Faulconer's soundtrack to the original.

Also seconding the DIC Sailor Moon music. That dub sucked but most of the music was more memorable than the original and sometimes (like in the case of "My Only Love" and "Carry On"), more fitting.

The only anime so far I have seen that I do wish a Dubbing company DID place their own OST in is "Love Hina". Man, half of those OST just does NOT fit at all.
But thats just me.
