Just saw the movie tonight and I really enjoyed it. All the singing was fantastic, especially Jennifer Hudson. Great movie.

Un.freakin'.BELIEVALBE! Is FF punishing me for gonig away? I just posted again and it ate the post AGAIN! GRR.

...or maybe the ghost of Barry Gordy doesn't want me to diss him and Diana? Could be...so I'll just say the movie was only less crappy than the musical.

Just wanted it to be clear that while I absolutely adore Jennifer Hudson and can't wait to see her in many, MANY future roles, the story and music are still dull as dirt at best, and deeply annoying at worst, and the only thing that ruled were the Motown-style music (as opposed to the original musical music), and Ms. Hudson. :D

*sniffle* I miss you guys, and I miss the board.

Jennifer won the Sammy Davis, Jr. award for Entertainer of the Year at the Soul Train Awards. I think they air on tv later this week sometime. And Dreamgirls is a little over 140million worldwide, so it's made it's budget back twice. It cost about 70million to make i remember hearing

I think Listen and Patience have the best chance at winning out of the DG songs. I want Listen to win though, so Beyonce gets the Oscar she wants so bad though lol

they might perform all 3 songs. lol the year beyonce sang every song,,the Latin 1..didn't she get the words wrong or something> i thought i heard that mentioned before lol

it looks like the dreamgirls soundtrack is going to be #1. Kinda bad news, it looks like its going to the lowest slaes for a #1 album ever lol, like right now its only like under 70,000 this week. Last week it sold over a 100,000 and managed to be at #3...so much changes in a week lol

WildAtHeart - I hope you can see it soon! Dreamgirls is a smaller release than alot of the other movies that are out. Still hard to believe it's not showing in at least one of those theaters though. It's not an indie by any means.

*Small scenes/moments that I liked*
At the end when Curtis realizes that Effie has a daughter and that it's his. The look on his face!

I also liked the moment when Deena realizes that Effie's daughter is Curtis'. I felt kind of sad for her though since she had wanted a child with Curtis. Although in the end it was for the best.

I also liked the moment Deena realizes One More Night was Effie's and what Curtis had done.

Deena's goodbye scene with Curtis.

The scene after Jimmy's death when Lorel is crying her eyes out and saying that his wife wouldn't let her see him. I know the whole situation was wrong, but I still felt sad for Lorel not being able to say goodbye.

So happy to hear your thoughts on the movie. Thanks for posting. :)

I've heard about Jennifer getting standing ovations in the middle of the movie. That's incredible. I'm so psyched to see it. And it's definitely going to be fun to see everyone's reactions.

The soundtrack is awesome!

And congrats to Jennifer, Eddie, and Beyonce for their GG noms!!!

I know right. A theater near me has Night at the Museum but no Dreamgirls.

But most here do
