Downton Abbey - ITV1

I want to sneak in and get Anna and Bates together , I want to hug Lady Mary , smack Mrs O Brien , shake Mathew and get the cook to Specsavers .
I love when I get involved .!

Yes, I'm very much looking forward to watching this drama series. It looks very good.

How did you have the privilege of watching the first episode, and why did no one ask me if I wanted to watch a pre-screening?

I reckon Bates entered a civil partnership with the Lord whilst they were in the Boer War but when they got out alive the Lord doesn't want to be reminded of it. ;)

Most pre-electric location dramas tend to shove a box painted the same colour as the wall on top of any light switches - not ideal but a nod in the right direction.

LOVING Dame Maggie in this! "You want your wife's fortune to go to a young man who talks about weekenRAB and jobs?!" with genuine horror!

I had always assumed the maiRAB' rooms in the attic would be seen as cold and bleak by the occupants, but a short while ago I heard a passage from an Arnold Bennet book, written in Edwardian times, which described how a maid thought it was almost luxurious not only to have her own room, but even her own bed.

Well, I enjoyed that. But blooming nora. all those adverts! I might have to record it to the hard drive and fast forward. At the same time though, I liked posting while watching..

And YAY!! Bates gets to stay!! Thank You M'lord.

I expected better to be honest, while Julian Fellows has produced a fine script the acting and casting leaves a lot to be desired, Joanne Froggitt for example is not ideal for period drama, her woeful stint in Robin Hood was proof enough for me that her talents would be better served dishing up burgers in McDonalRAB rather than spoil any relevant drama she is miscast in. To use the quote aimed at Sarah Palin, a pig is still a pig no matter what shade of lipstick it wears.

It showed promise and the elegant Dame Maggie as always excelled, shame about the rest though, I do fear this will end up resembling that other ITV flop, The Palace.

She's one of my favourite actresses. I've loved her ever since she was Richard Brier's long-suffering wife in Ever Decreasing Circles.

Dan Stevens was very decorative in the BBC's Sense and Sensibility remake :D

(and Thomas the footman is a very welcome new face to me)
