That was brilliant. I'm confused with the daughters names thouhg. I'm glad Bates stayed.

Did anyone notice the shot of her looking wistfully into the mirror when attending to her lady? I wondered what that was for. Maybe wishing she was a beauty instead of a sour-faced so and so? :D Perhaps she thinks that she should have been a lady. Why do they put up with her? Perhaps she was made pregnant by a Lord and Thomas is the result.

She's another one with a secret. I wonder also if it is connected in some way with Bates, but I may be way off the mark. ;)

Best episode yet.

Excellent telly. Intelligent, complex, lavish, surprising. Well acted, written and designed.

I can't believe I have just typed that sentence about something on ITV.

The only grumble was the adverts. Far too many of 'em. Will watch the next one on a half hour time day on the Skyplus, so I can fastforward throuigh all that bloody Aviva sponsorship.
 
Trust me it's a lot higher than 1%. That's just what one piddling little 'survey' said. There's lots who would deny being gay or are closet bi-sexuals etc. It's a lot more widespread than reported.
 
Brilliant that it's getting a second series! This is such a good show. Disagree about Elizabeth's accent, I think she has a lovely voice and she's great in this. The whole cast is great.
 
Thanks, Nuts! Mrs Chuff and I were fascinated by any potential additional meaning there may be in a character called "Mrs Fatwa".

I heard that the character of the Postmistress (Mrs Jihad) was cut from the final edit and will be included in the "special features" of the DVD.
 
My opinion is she is very much of an act by numbers actress, same vacant expression no matter what she does, also looking like the screaming lesbian who had an affair with my ex does not help with my dislike of her.
 
Re the blossoming feelings between Anna and Mr Bates, am I right in thinking that this has no where to go? Surely even the enlightened aristocracy refused to let their servants marry. As I recall, in Upstairs, Downstairs Edward and Daisy were only allowed to marry because Edward was going off to fight in France.
 
No, please. 4 minutes of adverts every 12 minutes? The adverts make a mockery of the drama. It's why all decent drama should go to the BBC.
