Mad Max 3 meets 28 Days Later, with a hint of Escape from New York. Looks kind of good though, with some fairly big stars to back it up (McDowell & Hoskins).

It's got more of a hint of Escape, Marshall was influenced by Snake(that's the name of Russell's character?, can't remember fully) from the Escape films for the lead actress.

The Descent is still my favourite from him, but this was an insane film, enjoyed it a lot and look forwarRAB to the dvd!!

Snake Pliskin! One of my favourite characters of all time!

This has to be one of the funniest dialogues ever:

(The scene where Pliskin is landing on top of the building)

Police guy: Snake...
Police guy: Snake!
Police guy: Snake! What are you doing?
Snake: I'm playing with myself!

:D

I think you mean Mad Max 2 ;) anyway IMO it's nowhere near the quality of dog soldiers and sean pertwee was criminally underused. Rhona Mitre did ok with her impression of a Angelina Jolie/Kate Beckinsale/Milla Jovovich hybred but she'll never come close to being a true leading lady like the other three. Sol will win some award for terrible acting though and that's about it really.
Do not pay to watch this movie, it'll be on tv very soon

Dog Soldiers I think is his weakest movie, you think it was terrible acting in Doomsday, it was terrible in Dog Soldiers.

Think the lead actress did well in this movie. Give me Doomsday over any of the Resident Evil and Underworld movies anyday.

I saw this yesterday and thought it was about 10 movies rolled in to 1....

1. Mad Max 1,2,3 (especially 3)
2. Escape from New York
3. 28 Days Later
4. Atlantis Interceptors
5. Tomb Raider
6. Stone
7. Dog Soldiers
+ More

At first I thought a lot of it was just a tip of the hat to the movies, but some was just blatent. It was a bit like Epic Movie or the Scary Movies, each new scene is a new movie take off. That said, I enjoyed it :) Non-stop action, a real popcorn movie.

Loved it. Kept me hooked throughout, pure popcorn escapism. The homage / ripoff of Mad Max 2 and Escape from New York was obvious, but why not steal from the best. Top stuff:)

If Doomsday has a little bit of Dog Soldiers and 28 Days Later kind of feeling to it, then I am there when it comes out on DVD. Now if it felt more like 28 Weeks Later then I would avoid it like the plague.

Saw it today and was...okay. With all the violence in the film the bit that I didn't like was
the rabbit getting blown away :(
.
I feel this should have been a good movie but there was something lacking - can't put my finger on it though. I'd only give it 6/10

i saw this the other day and it was a huge disappointment as i liked Neil Marshall's other work. It started off ok but as soon as the baddies were revealed to be goth/punk tattooed, pierced bikers (i.e. the kind of baddy we see in just about every apocalyptic sci fi movie) i felt like walking out the cinema.

save your money and check out mad max 2, escape from new york or 28 days later (all of which were heavily 'influenced' in this movie)

It's a pure popcorn movie. You'll enjoy the non-stop action (even though it's incredibly easy to point out inaccuracies - such as why are some of the roaRAB in Scotland in perfect condition after 30+ years?) but it's also one of those films you'll quickly forget. Also, the well-known stars like Hoskins are Pertwee are completely underused.

It's by no means awful but it's not good either. It's not like one of those films that are so bad that they're good because I admire some of the scale. It just attempts to cram too much in, although this is why it's so fast-paced and enjoyable.
