Don't ask don't tell getting closer to being a footnote in history

then don't talk about sex with a gay dude if you feel like he has nothing to contribute. but also get through your thick fucking skull that you're talking about a gay PERSON, as in, an individual. who you might think is pretty fucking cool once you get to know him or her. or you might hate their guts and not want to talk to them at all in the first place.

either way, base your opinions on a person, not a group.

I didn't use it as an example of why discriminating against gays is a good thing. But since you think it's an idiotic rule, would you say it's equally idotic, more idiotic, or less idiotic?

And how would you compare your response to that particular rule compared to don't ask don't tell?

You seem simply unable to make the distinction between honor guard and fitness for combat.

I don't know because often they're not "out and loud" about it, but they've existed. Hell, one of the greatest military minds in history (Alexander the Great) was at the very least bisexual.

That's an idiotic rule, and using it as an example of why discriminating against gays should be a good thing is equally idiotic.

I'm comfortable with eliminating the military as a public service, in which case we wouldn't be having this argument

No, it's called respect for your sexual partner. I learned it early in life. You get as much ass as you want that way. If your partner wants to talk about it, that is her/his problem. If you are good, and they talk about it, you get major ass. It is one social situation where "tooting" your own horn is much less effective then letting others "toot" it for you.

theres a difference between choosing how you feel about a particular matter by having an open mind, and completely changing your sexuality.

THAT EXPRESSION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH JUSTIFICATION FOR MAKING SOMETHING ILLEGAL. What don't you understand about that?

Because women have no place in the infantry. Check out the minimum standards for PT, the lowest acceptable level for men is on par with excellent times for women.

Women's 2 mile run, 100% = 15:36
Men's 70% score = 15:12

There are real physical differences among the sexes. No legislation is going to change that.

it's not bigotry if you object to a persons behavior.....the last I checked Homosexuality is not a race nor a religion

Get yourself educated about other military regs that govern behavior there are a he'll of alot more than just DADT

shit the regs governing behavior are so backwards that they even govern the sex practices of heterosexuals

so a matter of personal taste in which your opinion differs from someone else's makes them 'ignorant' of what exactly?

are you against the military assigning duties based on height or other similar personal characteristics for purely aesthetic reasons?

people are nasty animals and things that you want to chalk up to ignorance like racism or homosexuality are instinctual and have nothing to do with intelligence at all.

IOW people don't like people who are different from them

I'm still trying to understand why you think personal taste is a factual matter that requires or implies a certain level of intelligence

Sodomy is going to be against regulations for gays or straights. That doesn't mean that a gay will be drummed out simply for being openly gay. Back your shit up.
