I'm surprised at such positive comments about this film in this thread.
Not surprised in a bad way, in a good way.
I am one of those people who tend to think a lot of British films aren't that good.
But I enjoyed this.
I wouldn't say it's one of the very best British films, but I thought it was very good and of a decent standard. And a pretty damned good watch.
I liked the acting, liked the ideas, liked the feel. I think it had a lot going for it.
I liked the dialogue on the whole. There were bits where I thought the dialogue was a bit duff, but on the other hand there was also other parts where I thought the dialogue was excellent.
I'd definitely record this and have it as a keeper in a collection.
It's great to see British film go for stuff that's not done that often and is almost always left to America to make this kind of stuff.
A lot better British horror film than 'Creep' which I saw recently. I thought that was utter junk.
I'd imagine that '28 Days Later' was a big inspiration to the makers of this film, in respect to giving them the confidence to think that yes, the British can make films like this if they put enough thought and motivation into it.
I think that there were flaws, but the only way to learn is for Britain to make more of different kinRAB of films. So all power to the people who made this.
It was refreshing to watch this as it's brave enough to go into a genre that British film tenRAB to avoid too often nowadays and we're all too often left watching the same old stuff you expect from British films, stuffy costume dramas, 'triumph over adversity' heart warming sentimental cliche comedies, crap cheap unfunny comedies, or really really serious subject matter.
Sometimes you want to see British films go for something like this, action horror type stuff that's direct and not afraid to be unashamedly bold about it.
I think it's certainly better than some of the modern American horror films. It just had a certain feel to it that worked well.
I thought it was pretty good, I liked it. It's nice to see that others in this thread also liked it, and even liked it much more than I did.
