I'm only 15 years old, but i'm getting into car audio and have a few questions. I believe i will have a 2001 Pontiac Grand am w/o monsoon package & w/o onstar. First let's start with the equipment. I plan to get a Sony Xplod receiver with 6 channel preamp outputs delivering 52 peak watts (17 rms), Sony xplod amplifier delivering 1400 watts peak (540 rms x1 at 4 ohms; 220 watts[rms] x2 at 4 ohms), Sony xplod 12" 1500 watt peak (400 watt rms) dual voice coil 4 ohms subwoofer, Sony xplod GT 6x9 speakers 300w peak (60w rated) [x2],Sony xplod GT 5.25" speakers 150w peak (35w rated) [x2], JBL 1" tweeter 150w peak (50w rated) [x2]. Is there any problems with not enough power or to much power going to a speaker or sub. Also, the sub is dual voice coil, so does that mean it gets to 4 ohms power at 220w each. Is there a way to run the amp at 80% efficiency too? Any feedback is appreciated, just remember, I'm 15 and I'm just a beginner at this willing to learn, if you need more info, i can get more...thx 4 ur time.
One IMPORTANT peice of information now....I will not be getting the JBL tweeters becuz i would have to get another external amp, plus i dont need them...
(I should have done more research); I will also be getting s Sony ZR series 4/3/2 channel amp to run my 6x9 and 5.25 speakers at a better supply, i will just keep the factory tweeters for now, but probably swap them out later and i might upgrade the 6x9 and 5.25 speakers if i have the extra cash since the amp can deliver more power to them, the specs for the amp are: 70w rms x4 at 4 ohms; 80w rms x4 at 2 ohms. I hope u didnt waste your time?! PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFO HERE!!!!
