no new dishwasher or ANY brand new appliance should 'lkeak' in any way shape or form. i would have them either come out and fix the dang thing or make them take it back, since 'something" is wrong there. leaking water onto a floor or any other place is going to creat ALOT of problems over time and just is not a 'good' appliance?
when it comes to how the dishes are washed THEN dried with LOTS of heat and of course the detergent used to wash them? its all pretty much sterilized in there, ya know what i mean? its really seriously HOT inside a dishwasher, enough to kill off any real germs or "issues' that could simply 'be there" with blood? esp when there is sooo much very hot water also diluting any contaminants too thru many cycles it simply goes thru too? this is just how a dishwasher 'cleans' off your dishes to the point that you even just CAN eat right off them when they are actually washed then heated dry? its the way it simply works that i really do not think she has anything truely contaminated sitting anywhere like her cupboards?
but based upon how that washer is simply NOT working the way it should be right now, i would take it back if i were her. its just NOT supposed to do that? this could be the reason it WAS actually even marked with a red marker to begin with too? its just NO appliance that requires water like dishwashers, refrigerators or washers should leak ANYTHING out of the appliance when using it or esp when not actually using it and its leaking anyway kinda thing? i would tell her to speak to the head of the dept and make them exchange it or fix it.
but i truely doubt that she has anything to worry about with the possible blood being there? it does not even sound to me like it actually even was blood to begin with? she needs to ask THEM if that dishwasher was actually marked at THEIR store for some reason? that would tell alot right there? but when you buy anything 'brand new' there just also HAS to be like a thirty day guarantee or even possibly longer(usually like 30-90 day at the very least with most)? she needs to check on that.
but like i mentioned before, i really DO seriously doubt that this even was actual blood? so she just really needs to tell these people she either wants this fixed asap, or give her a new one since this IS a brand new appliance and like i said, should have a gurantee/warrenty of some kind on it too from the date of purchase? have her just read thru the papers/reciept that she got when she purchased it, any warrenty info should be there. by law, they would simply HAVE TO make it 'right' for the customer. she can also report them to the BBB (better business bureau)or simply call the BBB with any questions she need answered. or even when speaking with the store manager simply mention that if things are not made "right" she WILL call the BBB and report them? no business likes to have any complaints made to the BBB about them, trust me. these people are there FOR the customers rights protection too. that is really who i would call if i was getting nowhere, esp if this is a business/store as huge as lowes. i have had to call the BBB before in the past and they ARE very helpful to anyone who needs some help of guidance thru a situation like this. there is a local state, her state of the BBB? i was able to find the number in the front of my phone book, but you could probably find it online too. just have her put in her state, then BBB or type out the full wording and it should pop right up? but thats about all i can tell ya here. but i do not think what was described was actual blood, but marker of some kind? but if she feels 'something" might have gotten on her dishes, she can always wash them all by hand in lots of soapy water, just for 'her' peace of mind only since i would doubt there realistically even could be any issues? but it will make HER feel better since she just is the way you mentioned she is? its not a 'have to' thing in either case(just the modes of action that the dishwasher would kill off?), but for HER only? but i do think everything is just fine there ya know? she just now needs to worry about getting a good brand new working right appliance from these people. tell her good luck with this.
