Does an amp make much of a difference to speakers?

My speakers are rated at 110w rms. I am looking at getting a 80w 4 channel amp. My question is will I notice much of a difference from the 50w my head unit puts out to the 80w the amp will be putting out?

Thanks

Yes, it does, The amplifier makes the speakers actually work.

The speaker rating, indicates the maximum power they can handle without being destroyed. Usually these are on the conservative side, but if you choose a larger amplifier than the one you are currently using, you should notice an improvement in the dynamic range between lowest and highest sound.
