Do you think the classic age of popular culture ended in 1999?

so far the 21st century has brought vastly inferior pop culture. however i think it will get better in the '10s.

what do you think - is the 20th century (or say, 1920-1999) going to be remembered as the age of popular culture? or will it continue through the 21st?
 
I've been thinking about that in terms of music... I get the feeling pop music has sort of "stopped" a few years ago... I noticed I haven't listened to any new song and liked it for a while, but maybe that's just me growing old xD
as for the rest, well, I don't know, with phases it's always difficult to draw boundaries, usually that's done later, by people looking back. We'll I guess..
