Do you think that people should educate themselves about LGBT people even if it...

...means not accepting us? Basically, what I'm asking for is people to do research about who we are and how it's not a choice. I want people to realize that I don't care if they don't accept me but I do care if they don't have any sense coming out of their mouth about me and my sexual orientation if they don't know what they're saying. I understand that there will always be some haters out there and that they don't have to accept me for who I am but I would be happy for people to educate themselves... and this doesn't go for just sexual orientation but things such as religion also.

I don't know if I'm making any sense... but what I'm trying to ask here is that isn't it better for someone to educate themselves about a situation without accepting them then to not know anything about them and hate them?

I think that everyone should educate themselves about as many walks of life as they can. It's important and key in being truly open-minded.

It's also instrumental in winning debates. I even tried to read some of the garbage that Fred Phelps put out...I still find EVERYTHING that comes out of their mouths to be reprehensible and to make no sense at all. But if you're going to debate with a person, you're best served to know what the opposing party will say before they even say it.

Hell yeah!
some people are too ignorant and put up stupid questions like that homo sapiens one.
but yeah good question.
but like most of the world, people like to make opinions rather then state facts.

i think people should educate themselves about everything. i dont think people should accept everything as long as they dont reject it (as in if something things something is not correct, that doesnt give the right to interfere in other's life!)

Hi Genuine! I love that, if only it could happen. Unless we can start making this part of human sexuality courses and until we can get religion to start talking about it openly, it will not change. There are too many churches out there who preach against us with their every breath. I don't know how we could convince them that education is the way, but I don't think some of them will ever change. Over time, I have seen some of the old haters pass away and new ideas spread to some churches and religions, but until they can take off the masks of their own hypocrisy and do what's right for all people, regardless of sexuality, they won't change. Yes, what you wrote does make sense and I just wish it could be so. This is why being out and open about your sexuality is so important. That is what we're doing - educating others. It is usually only for those we love and want to know and accept us because of family or friends, but we are educating them every time we speak out about our issues. Good going and good teaching, my friend. Keep it up. Whenever we meet even one person who is against homosexuality or someone who is ashamed of their sexuality, it is our opportunity to educate them. Every little step we take will eventually get us to our goal.
Love your heart and intentions,
Bret
