I know there are some sequels to movies that have been really good. This can be films such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy or Bad Boys I& II (there are many others i know, but these are just examples). However, why do people want to see American Pie for a 3rd time? They go over the same jokes and it wasn't really that funny.
It shows that movie companies are running out of ideas and don't know what to bring out any more. I remember in 2001 all movie companies were bringing out were sequels (Blade 2, American pie 2, Jurassic park 3 etc). There aren't many original ideas left out there and either sequels are being made, or the films themselves are being remade (i.e. Italian Job, Vanilla Sky).
When I went to the Cinema round xmas time, and saw a trailer before the final LOTR, i was shocked to see they're doing a mask sequel. Why ruin a perfectly good (& funny) film 10 years later after it was originally made.
So what movies do you think should not have been sequels, and do you think there should be more original ideas in the film industry?
