ha ok, its always some "mythical" consumer thats going to buy these things up for over a grand, but ok...
like i said theres just NO reason to buy one for that much, IF, and IF there were some huge exclusive launch title (ie gta4) then yes, it would sell because it would have something the other systems dont, but nearly every game that comes out for ps3 at launch will be avaliable on systems both on shelves AND 1/4th price

@ fags thinking the PS3 wont turn out a huge profit on ebay.
People were bitching about the PS1 and Saturn prices, but they still sold out and at a premium.
People were bitching about the PS2's price, and it still sold out and was available on ebay for a huge premium.
People were bitching about the X-box 360's price, and it still sold out and was available on ebay for a huge premium.
The competition factor is valid however that still won't stop the PS3 from selling at a premium on ebay. Dreamcast was out for a year before PS2, and IMO had better game titles compared to the PS2 launch games. However, that didn't stop the PS2 from selling out and fetching rediculous prices on ebay.

1 - It will be a harder sale because there's more than one system available this time around. The 360 was the ONLY thing last year. The PS3 is going against the MUCH cheaper Wii, and the 360 with it's second gen software, as well as most the games the PS3 is launching with. People now have a choice.
2 - The bad press is not helping Sony. Regardless if it's rumors, true, mistakes, whatever. The negative feedback is gonna hurt them.
3 - People have already bitched about the retail price. You think they're gonna spend double for it?
4 - Regardless of how much profit was made on the 360....$1,200 is $1,200. If you think that every PS3 will sell for double it's amount...you're crazy. It's not a guaranteed market. Especially with the conditions being so different this year.
