...different than your own? For example, an American family giving their baby an Irish name even though they don't have Irish roots, or an African name, even though they don't have any African roots. I'm just curious what you guys think. Is it weird? Or do you think it's ok?

nope

Not At all!!

There are millions, and millions of different names across the globe, all from different places across the world, and with so Many, It is pretty much beautiful to see different names from different places in one whole family!

I don't think it's an issue, but it can be pretty weird depending on your last name. It's a complete nonproblem if you have a common name like Smith or Johnson.

No i think it's pretty cool actually. THere's a guy at my school named Alam Johnston, and he's not islamic at all in any way, but everyone thinks his name is really cool

Nope not weird at all....There are beautiful names from all over the world! I love that they are shared between people everywhere. You dont have to be of a certain nationality to love the culture.

Of course it isn't weird. Lots of languages have beautiful names. Why limit yourself.
