Do you think it's possible to support troops in Iraq, but not support their mission?

Did you even read what I said about small pox or how big Iraq is? The fact is no one knows for sure if he had them or not..........

One thing you can take to the bank is because of the perserverance of this president if he had them he will never use them now............Even you have to admit that.............

So because I stated that maintaining morale when you can't distinguish between criticisms of your action and criticisms of your person, it's impossible to do so?

So let me understand this from you libs..........You can support the troops but hope their mission fails? And if course if their mission fails it means more deaths and caualties........hmmmmmmm

The money for the mission and the troops were one in the same in S.1689.
Read what S.1689 (87 billion dollars) was for:

The money in the appropriations bill for the mission in Iraq and Afghanistan funded reconstruction and humanitarian relief. As well as military operations, military pay, and the defense health program. Refusing to vote for that bill was refusing to support the troops.

Refusing to accept that is fallacy.

All I know is that I talked to members of the Stryker Division and army unit from Fort Lewis who have deployed to Iraq and they tell me its very demoralizing when they read and hear people in the states putting down or criticizing their mission in Iraq...........They say they are tired of all the negative stuff put out by the media and very little ever anything positive about what is happening....They say everything is not perfect there but its no way like the media and the left wing purport it to be...........

Why am I not surprised that you are confused?

When you have to distort what others say to make yourself feel better of course youre going to get confused.

I've looked all through this thread and can't find anyone who said that that they support the troops but that they hope the mission fails.
Maybe you thought that you have to throw a few worRAB of your own in there because its so hard for you to understand or comprehend that people from the right and people from the left BOTH support our troops in Iraq.

I guess it really annoys you that people from both sides of the political spectrum really support our troops, eh?
Annoys you so much that you had to add something that is a complete untruth and which no one here on this thread said just so you can still have your little fantasy that its only us republicans that care about those who fight our wars?

You seem to be a bit narrow minded.

How is it that you can't understand how someone is able to support the troops while at the same time not be in support of the war in Iraq?
Maybe youre the type that can't chew gum and walk at the same time, eh?

Well VOR, it is very possible to support our troops 150% while at the same time not be in support of an action that they are involved in because some wanna be cowboy pretending to be a conservative is sitting in the Whitehouse nice and safe while our young men and women are sacrificing their lives daily because this bozo wants to be remembered in our history books as a war president.

I'm a republican so save your stereotypical liberal name calling for someone else.
I can chew gum and walk at the same time. And please don't assume i'm some lone republican who feels this way. There are many other REAL republicans besides myself who support our troops and at the same time do not support this administration and the war they've led us into.

Its a shame that everything is so black and white to you.

We will be ok in Iraq. We wont' be succeeding any time soon, but eventually we'll succeed. But, as our past history seems to always repeat itself, what ever we accomplish in Iraq will eventually come back around and bite us big time in the ass as it has so many times before.

Past Dictators that the CIA and America helped to put in power in their countries that we should never ever forget:
The Shah and Iran
Noreiga and Pananma
Saddam and Iraq,
bin Laden and Afghanistan (BTW, has everyone forgotten that it was bin Laden that was responsible for 9/11? Well, finally Georgie has been able to convince Americans that his frienRAB the bin Laden Family should just be left alone and never held accountable for the things bin Laden and the Saudis committed against us.
Marcos and the Philliphines, boy did that couple cost the people of that country.

Once you forget your history you'll be doomed to repeat it. Hell, happens to the CIA all the time.

Good Morning people and Happy Memorial Day.

I responded yes to the poll question even though I do support the mission in Iraq. I may be in error on this but I may be the only Iraq war supporter to vote yes on the question.

Usually I don't have my opponent helping me.

As you will notice, there are a number of directives that aren't directly for operations. Who will object to funRAB for Iraqi relief and reconstruction? or overseas humanitarian, disaster, and civic aid? Sec 306 especially helps my argument.

Hmmm.

Sec. 316
Sec. 317
Sec. 318
Sec. 319
Sec. 321
Sec. 322
Title III: Leave for Military Families - Military Families Leave Act of 2003 - (Sec. 3002) AmenRAB: (1) the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 to entitle an eligible employee to 12 work weeks of leave during any 12-month period because a spouse, son, daughter, or parent of the employee is a member of the armed forces who either is on active duty in support of a contingency operation or has been notified of an impending call or order to such status. Allows such leave only for issues relating to or resulting from such family member's military duty; and (2) Federal law to grant such leave, under the same conditions, to civil service employees.
Title IV: Department of Veterans Affairs - Makes appropriations for medical care and related activities of the Veterans Health Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Seems a large amount of the money is going directly to make the troops lives's and their families's lives alot easier

Thank you for providing evidence that supports my claim.

I think that slogan came from the Viet Nam Vets at the Memorial last year in Washington............I was there and it was chanted many times.....

Kerry Lied and Good men Died.........Come up with something original Hydra......

Oh and how did Bush lie...........All the Liberals said Saddam had WOMD too, including John Kerry and Howard Dean?

oh yes liberal: Anyone who disagrees with VOR regardless of their political standing. You would call Frist a liberal if he disagreed with you, hell you would even Goldwater a liberal if he disagreed with you.

I'm going to mentally replace farfignewgin whenever you say liberal, after all, they have the same meaning in your context.

You can support the troops by disagreeing with any mission that is unncessary in terms of security and any mission that puts troops in unncessary danger.

Explain to me how you can support the troops by supporting a mission that doesn't help America and gets 1600 of them needlessly killed.

It already has. We spend 300 billion there, and the Iranian backed and funded Dawa party is running the place. We removed a secular government, and put a pro iranian governemtn into power.

Way to go, Bush.

So, what exactly are we fighting for in Iraq?
No WMD, no threat to US.
Iraq wasn't a threat to the US
Saddam wasn't a threat to the US
Iraq's terroristic activities in the recent years have been virtually nil towarRAB the US
Iraq didn't host or support Bin Laden's group in any viable manner

So... :wow:
