Do you think it is important for a country to preserve its national culture

yes, because it's what defines a country's people from others. each country has a unique culture that they can share to the rest of the world and call it their own. it's kinda sad when the people from a country would largely identify themselves with a culture they think is better than theirs and put their own culture and identity in the backseat.

Yes, they really should. In the case of the US though, we are a melting pot and are made up of people from a lot of cultures. The mission of the founding father's was basically to practice free religion and be away from the stuffiness of the Britsh culture of the time.

Since we founded our country on those beleifs then it opened to door to so many cultures that we really don't have one culture. You have your Asians, Hispanics, Whites, Blacks, Caribbeans, Polynesians, Islam, and whatever happens across our boders.

Not everyone gives into the hype of hot dogs, baseball, apple pie, and Chevrolet. They also don't give into the hype of the bible belt either .

I belive each section of the country has its own culture. Now, this is MY take on things.

Midwesterners: Hard working, laid back, underappreciated, under paid, farmers, God fearing, losing factories by the minute, heart of the nation.

Southerners: God fearing, somewhat racist (still), fun loving. Good music comes from there.

Westerners: Tree hugging, political activists, environmentally confused at times, out spoken.

Desert Southwest: Diverse in culture with Hispanics, whites, and elderly people. A lot of good food comes from there.

Northeasterners: Rather calm, laid back, fishermen, outdoorsy, funny accent.

Pacific Northwest: Outdoorsy, loggers, fishermen, somewhat laid back.

It may not be correct or politically correct but it is just an example of how diverse we are so we can't pin point any particular culture.
