...Christianity being slighted? It seems that gays and lesbians used to stay in the closet because society didn't accept them, but in recent years it has become more and more acceptable in mainstream society to be homosexual.
"Hate the sin, not the sinner" is the attitude that a lot of Christians have, but I'm afraid that society is going to turn against Christians in the long run because we don't believe that homosexuality is the way the Lord wants us to live their lives.
I think a lot of Christians think that "gays" choose that perverted lifestyle, and they can force themselves to love only people of the opposite sex, but I don't think that is necessarily so.
If a person really feels in his or her heart that he or she is attracted sexually to a member of the same sex, possibly they can't change how they feel inside, and choose to love the opposite sex, I think that maybe they were born that way, and maybe God is punishing them for something done in previous generations.
You know, God doesn't make everyone perfect, some of us are born short, some tall. Some of us are handicapped, others healthy. Some gay, others straight.
For someone to be born gay, I can see how it would be very hard to live a Christian life, but "He whom much is given, much is expected." (or something like that)
I'm just afraid that as society goes more and more down the road to the Den of Iniquity, Christianity (if we continue to allow society to deteriorate the way it has by worshiping at the altar of perversion) will be looked upon as being full of bigots and hatred, whereas nothing could be further from the truth, our God is a loving God, and He loves us and you, He just wants you know that homosexuality is a perversion and we shouldn't keep glorifying it.
Actually I was more interested in what other Christians' had to say about this....
neil s... obviously I meant, "wants us to live our lives"...just a typo
I certainly didn't mean that I was perfect, I'm certainly not. Perhaps I should have said, "We are all imperfect, some are imperfect in that they are homosexual, others are imperfect in other ways..."
Really the answers that I'm getting to this question are proving my point in how far society has gotten...it's only a matter of time before Christians are looked at as being the "lunatic fringe" as much as non-Christians were in America a hundred years ago.
Also, I wouldn't say that we are telling other people how we want you to live, but, rather we're telling you how the Bible and the Lord expects us all to live.....
