Do you recognize military courtesy under these circumtances?

This may sound like a stupid question, but if I'm playing Xbox or Playstation online with people and I recognize that I'm in a gaming party with an officer, do I observe military courtesy?
I knew this person as an officer. His gamertag was the same as his call sign.

do you know the officer personally or it's just some joe schmoe that says he's an officer?

If you know him personally, should you be playing video games with him to begin with? - probably not (fraternization and all that).

If it's just some jack off the street, I'd say no.

It depends. If you "Know" he is an officer all military rules will apply.

If it's a guy who just puts CPT in front of his screen name, don't bother.

I would, but that's just out of simple respect for the rank... not because I'm forced to respect the rank.

Unless he's an ass, I doubt he would care if you observed it or not.
