Do you care if an artist is a d*ck?

Actually, he played bass on at least one Mayhem album, to my knowledge, and Aarseth played guitar on that same album. I wouldn't want to listen to Mayhem anyways, because 1. I don't like black metal, and 2. they're all sick, sick people.

Bootlegs anyone?

I try to separate the music from the musician. Like dac said, it's kind of a plus when the musician is a nice person but they don't have to be. On the other hand if the person is dick to me directly it does affect my feelings about the music. For example, I met Damon Tutunjian from the Swirlies before and I thought he was an obnoxious, arrogant indie-prick and I have to confess it made me not want to buy any more Swirlies albums.

musicians can't choose their fans though, they're our performing monkeys mwahahaha

The only stupid thing Kurt ever did was the repugnant human being and shameless opportunist Courtney Love

Obviously it's nice when good music is made by good people, but who cares if that's not the case? I mean, you're hardly likely to listen to something you think is **** just because the person making it is nice, so why should it apply the other way around?

Like has been said as long as the music is good then i couldn't care if the artistis a D**K, but you have to admit that some poeple get all of those little monkeys in your head pressing the wrong button and then.........sorry i can't buy a Pete Doherty album:laughing:

that's assuming that their personality impinges upon their ability to throw a live show or their songwriting. for most artists it works advantageously to have a humongous douche in the band, someone's gotta be there to challenge hecklers.

As for the artists 'performance' it doesnt really matter if they do Busted starjumps or not as to me it is the music/sound emulating from the instruments which matters to me.
Obviously there is a sense of characterisation to the lyrics but the point I was making was that people who judge music by the people who make it without actually hearing/listening to the music first is a false perception of music.

You DO have to love him. I mean, he looks like such a tool, but at the same time...
I'd hit it.

I think you have a wrong perception of music.
Now your opinion is totally understandable and plausabile but (IMO), if you like the music, then you should listen to it & dont worry about what I would call 'shallow minded people' who say 'dont listen to that because hes this that or the next thing'. Now Im not defending what he does but making a point that hating him isnt an valid excuse to hate his music (IMO).
Now, I dont like his music to be honest & wouldnt bother listening to it but to me he is obviously talented as an entertainer & I think it is just too easy for you to hate banRAB based on who the people are.
Like a previous poster said, you wouldnt hate a book because of the author.
I would much prefer it if people would have a much more open mind when it came to music. To me it doesnt matter if the person is an ******* as its irrelevant when you to listen to a song (IMO).
