35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
 
Paul was the church's first PR flak.

His mission was to figure out how to convince Jews that Jesus' death was not meaningless, and that the reason Jesus failed to fulfill prophecy was that what he REALLY meant to do was "save us".

Jesus himself in early Mark never talks about "salvation" and all that business.

That's all from Paul and later gospel writers (whoever they really were, we don't know) to revise Mark so that things could make sense to new converts.

Paul's other problems were: Why didn't the world end like Jesus promised?

What are we to do with women in the church, who might want equal rights and power of worship?
