I always hear them say "I hate the black culture" but they probably have never been to a black play or theatre, seen black modern dancers (like alvin aley), or been to a black spoken word poetry jam, or read black literature.

do any of you guys know what n e g r o spirituals are?
don't you know elvis ripped off black culture?
does jazz and blues ring a bell?

the majority of popular music and dance stems from black culture from the 1800's-1950's.

if you hate black culture, you hate music and art in general.
jenna c:hell na im not going to a country music festival, however, i never said white people don't have a culture either.

Well to be honest, most of you ruin it way before we could even get interested by being ghetto @ssholes. I know not ALL of you act like this, but enough do so that most people think you are all like that. I consider black culture to be about laziness, welfare, degrading women, rap, thugs, spray paint, fried chicken, stealing, and then making excuses about all of it and blaming us.

black people originated all popular music we listen to today. but music and art is general is a crock. elvis ripped off "black music" you are right about that. take it, you can have it

when was the last time you went to a country music festival? lol, extreme, yes but that could be considered white culture. let me guess, that is not something you want to do right? i have no interest in seeing black theatre, or reading black literature. i respect your desire to do that though.

and i suppose ballet originated from africa right?

You are totally right!!!! I'm sick of white people who hate black people! It's obnoxious! Millions of plays, novels, dances, music, clothing, and especially the arts are based off of African American Culture!

I'm white, (obviously from my profile picture) and I know what all of these things are. But a ton of people don't.

they're focusing on one small subset of "Black culture" and generalizing. They're most likely referring to the so called "ghetto culture" which includes, among other things, glorification of violence and disrespecting women. In my opinion that is not the true "Black Culture". I think African American culture is really quite fascinating, and contributed a lot to American culture in general.
