I think we are the only minority on earth in which we are not taught to expect what was always considered a natural given right. We grow up hearing from the media, school, friends and even family that the only success we will ever achieve in life is through a career and that we shouldnt put our hopes in meeting a nice and successful man.
Even successful Black men are belittled by their peers for considering marriage to a Black woman. Men from outside of our race...unless he completely has a mind of his own will succumb to the pressure as well that Black women are not good enough.
Black women, do you ever consider your options? Okay great,you have your BA and your Masters...have you ever considered living in a country in which you would be considered as a desired mate?
There are many countries on earth in which your beauty, intellect, morality, education would be desired...and there are men who would line up find someone as beautiful as you.
There needs to be a network set up for Black women to find good spouses overseas if they are not able to find one in the US.
I have plenty of friends who married men from Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya...these men were very traditional but successful business men.
I think marriages for Black American women can work really well with African, European, and Asian men as long as you let go of your past and are willing to accept their culture and way of life whole heartedly.
White American men and Black American men are exactly the same.
