After doing some research on improving my headlights, I bought a HID Xenon Hi/Lo kit from Motorcycle Metal. Since I have a lot of room under the fairing I got the large ballasts which I figure would be better in the long run.
The instructions were OK and the kit was plug and play, no mods required unless you follow the recommendation to add a switch. I was going to use the ACC switch but didn't have enough time or info to do that now. That will be a winter project.
The mounting screws for the radio make great mounting points for the grounds and ballasts.
We used a clothes hangar very carefully to fish the power cable back to the battery and had to remove a piece of the plastic battery cover for clearance since there is one more connection on the positive terminal.
I added a lock washer to the ballast mounting screw, put a 2" piece of weatherstripping between the radio bracket and rear of the ballast to keep it from hitting there and used lots of tie-wraps to keep everything in place.
It took me and a buddy 3 hrs, including a break for lunch and half of that time was removing and reinstalling the fairing which I did for the first time.
If my camera works OK I'll try to get a picture of how they look at night.
If anyone has figured out how to use the ACC switch for this please send me a PM.
