DIY creak fix

This stuff works guys my girfriend fixed if for me and i had a bad case of rubbing and now it is gone thanks alot dookieshoe it worked great i am F*** happy becuause i cant see verywell and i didnt have my contacts in

just registered to the forums to say i tried dookieshoo's method. you have to keep the slider half open to get a nice angle at it. i used a razor blade and slowly wore down the little lip. and NO CREAK!!!

great work. now someone get an easy fix for the battery hehe

I tried tape, and it works, but it eventually starts coming off.

I ended up going with a teflon-based lubricant in that corner. I apply a very thin dab and smear it lightly with my finger and the creak is gone.

I have to reapply about every 2 weeks or so.

no damage to the phone

hasnt attracted any dirt or debris, and its alot easier to do than cutting and applying tiny pieces of tape.

works for me

: Dookieshoo you're an f'in genious!!! It worked like a charm! Now I can stop getting pissed each time I happen to press down on the corner of my screen. I'd also been riding my screen open and closed without letting it slam thinking that the creaking stemmed from the screen working itself loose due to the hard impact created by the sliding action. Soooo annoying! But, that's all taken care of now. Thanks Dookieshoo!

Very nice fix - thanks. Mine wasn't creaking that bad - but the more I read, the more I realized that mine was doing the same thing. I would hear the creak particuarly when I was on a call and holding the phone while it was closed. I just thought my screen was getting looser from opening and closing - now I feel much better about how well the screen/hinge may last.

If you have an exacto (looks like a pen with a pointed razor blade at the end) laying around, it works great. The raised portion you are trying to cut is very small and I didn't even see it at first. Don't try to cut it all at once - just run the blade down it several times shaving a little off each time - this way you'll lower the chance of gouging/scratching the phone.

Thanks again for posting the fix. This phone is defintely continuing to get better - being a first release it just requires a little bit more effort on our part to create solutions and work arounds.

Well my girlfriend just got one and no squeak. Mine of course squeaks so I guess I will try to return it. So stupid but it really does bother me.

I did this exact same thing.

My screen (when closed) seemed to stick out over the deck on the left side more than the right--the screen wasn't flush on all sides when closed. And it squeaked in the same place.

I cut a small strip of duvatyn (any theatre techs will know what this is) about 1cm longer than the MENU button on each side. I taped it neatly into place over the MENU key on both sides of the duvatyn to the top of the "chin" where the screen lands.

This solved my flush problem and the squeak.

I can't even tell that it's there.

Wow. How can something so simple ruin the fun of using a phone!

I can confirm this fix also works with a Dutch issued T-mobile phone (the one without the red and green call buttons.)

I filed away the small ridge (which seems like it's meant to be there, but might as well be a reminiscent part of the casting mold) and now the screen doesnt creak anymore. The back still does, but I will get me some tape to stick on the inside of the battery door to fix(ate) that.

Good forum!

cheers.
