It is a qualification if you ask me because that's my personal opinion, I'm not saying it as if it was the general consensus. The only kid I liked that was skinny was Leo DiCaprio but now he's all beefed up so its all good.

BTW, I know they were playing 17 year olds and so they looked young which was my point.

But now, now. This is a DD: Havana Nights discussion thread, so I also digress..

Keep on rolling those reviews!

oh god, I saw Dirty Dancing Havana Nights sunday and it was awesome. the dancing were so hot. i love the part where Javier (Diego Luna) and katie were dancing at Javier's job and they were watching Katie's dancing movie of her parents and they started doing their dance. Oh jesus, it was starting to get steamy but Javier's brother and his crew interupted them. Ok I gotta say Diego Luna is one

hot son of a -----. lmao. I'm serious. oh i just fell in love with the movie. I just checked etonline.com and it only made $5.90 million. I'm so disappointed.

Well put Eliza! Couldn't have said it better myself!

I think the title's quite appropriate anyway, I mean, they are in Havana and there's a hell of a lot of dirty dancing going on..

This movie has recently gone to the cheap theaters and that's sooo good for my wallet!

Diego, here I come!!

Oh, did anyone happen to pick up the new Teen Vogue? Diego and Romola are on the cover!
biggrin.gif
The pics inside are adorable!

I wish I was Romola.

This past Monday night, I went to see the movie for the fourth time. I just can't get enough of this movie. I love it!!! Maybe it's because I'm biased. I LOVE DIEGO LUNA!!! He's an amazing actor and he's definitely very easy on the eyes.

I just don't understand why people keep comparing it to the first Dirty Dancing. It's not even a sequel to it. Nowhere on the title does it have a 2 or does it say it is a sequel. It is even set BEFORE the original. This is also based on TRUE events, which makes it even more authentic in my eyes. The only thing I could think of is that maybe they should've just named it Havana Nights to avoid confusion.
sigh.gif
Either way, I am defintely buying the DVD as soon as it comes out.

Hi! I saw this film a couple months ago. I liked it and though the original DD is way better, it's still a cute film, and I would see it again. The dancing was good as well.

And I loved how Patrick Swayze was in it! :in_love: (I wish he were Johnny, though.)

I think it's sad how this film is based on a true story because the woman whose life this movie is based on never saw the guy she met in Cuba again (I don't think). But do you think Javier and Katey ever saw each other again?

Patrick Swayze will be on Graig Kilborn Monday night
and Sela Ward will be on Graig Kilborn Tuesday night, talking aboutt the movie, also Diego Luna will be on the new talkshow "On Air With Ryan" Thursday afternoon talking about the movie as well.

wanna be romola garai in this movie..

love the atmosphere and the people in cuba... :in_love:

Since when did the qualifications for manliness require muscle-toned physique and masculine features?

They looked 'young' in YTMT because they were playing 17-year-olds.

I'm digressing so I'll list some things I'd rather do than see Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights: Get a pap smear, do my laundry, do my neighbor's laundry, watch a movie worth my time, attempt to do my taxes, find a cure for the common cold...

Honestly, I'm curious about the movie. Curious enough to just download it.

Oh my....I haven't posted at fan forum in AGES but I had to come back and see if anyone else was as into Diego Luna (oh ya...and Havana Nights) as much as I am.

I saw HN yesterday and while not an amazing movie, I thought Diego and Romola both gave solid performances (with just a few terribly directed/scripted line deliveries). This movie didn't really do a good job at keeping up the dramatic tension or conflict, but what it did have was a fairly sweet love story that blossomed (and ended) quite naturally. Everything felt very amicable, which is both good and bad.

But what am I doing talking about this like it's Mystic River or something. In the end, it's about one thing and one thing only -- The Hottness Of Diego Luna. My lord that boy gives me chills. Loved the moment when Javier realizes in that James hurt Katie after leaving the club and Javier is about to go out and kick some gringo-butt. Diego played it so well. And the dancing scene infront of the projector was outrageously sexy.

SWOON!

Okay, so if any of you watched the behind the scenes of Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights on the DVD, you heard the choreographer, JoAnn Jansen say that its loosely based off of her life. Right so she then tells us that this guy's name was Luis...At the end of the movie, Katey says, we knew this wouldn't be our last dance...So my question is...Did she and Luis ever get to dance again? I need to know! Cause yeah, I guess we've all seen better movies, but the end saddened me when they were saying they were taking each other there and keeping each other here. Does anyone know if Joann and Luis ever saw each other again??

i heard that Havana nights was set in the 50's so i'm wondering how patrick is going to fit in seeing as he's what 50?
confused.gif
Maybe i heard wrong.
I'm a little weary of this film... the soundtrack listing has dissapointed me and bottom line is i just don't see it topping dirty dancing! Never the less i will see it and maybe i'll be proved wrong
smile.gif

I saw it on Friday and all I can say is wow. I'm not too impressed with the quality of acting, but the dancing was AMAZING!
sigh.gif
I'd looove to dance with Diego Luna.
in_love.gif
After watching it, I had the biggest urge to take up latin dancing.
lol.gif
I still do... it looks like so much fun!

And the music was awesome. I wanna go out and buy the soundtrack!
