Now I actually want to see this movie. Before, I thought it looked cheesy but then yesterday I saw the E! Behind the Scenes and it looked really good. I'm definately seeing this.

I can answer that one. Sadly, nope. Joann and Luis never saw each other again. I think that because of Castro, she couldn't go back and so she never heard from him again.

I was so sad to see them say good bye to each other. I saw the movie again with the commentary track. Joann said that the movie pretty much tells her story very close to how it really happened. The only difference is that the lady who lent her the dress for the dance, in real life, was Luis's sister who also worked at the hotel. And they became really close. She was the one who told her where to find Luis when he got fired from the hotel. In the movie, she was just another employee.

Liz -- I totally agree about the eyes! I would call them "bedroom eyes" because, frankly, they make me want to find the nearest bedroom and drag him in with me.

The "be like a girl" part was funny, not to mention his hysterical line delivery on "hips"! ROFLMAO!

The kiss at the dance competition was so natural and perfect for the moment. I like how they both looked at eachother right after the kiss with a look that seemed to say, "THAT'S what was missing!"

Lucky! I asked my aunt for this on DVD for my birthday, which is next month. I hope I get it - since I didn't get it when I put it in my Christmas list - but we'll see...

I don't like how some people call Havana Nights DD 2 because it's not a sequel. Other than the basic plot line and Patrick Swayze's apperance, the two films are nothing alike. IMO, just the title HN would have been better.

Javier + Katey =

What are everyone's favorite scene(s)?

Love the movie... I saw it at the cinema, and then I rented it and resaw it for like, 5 times :P haha! anyway... I loved the characters, the couples, the love, the dancing and the quotes...

"And now he says: Your afraid.." haha!!! loved it! :D

I love the soundtrack as well. I really dont have much money to spend on CDs lately but as soon as I went home I wished I had it and had to go get it. I love the BEP song and basically every song on there. The Christina song is soooo pretty. The You Send Me Song was when Katie was dancing with James at that dance thing at the palace, your right, it kind of slows down the whole CD, but its an OK song.

I loved the dancing in this movie. And Diego was absolutely gorgeous in it!

Does anyone know when the DVD will be released? Because I cannot wait!

Ah...Diego Luna IS hot, hot hot! Must agree with you guys!!
sigh.gif
I fell in love with his acting and his cute self in the Mexican soap opera, El Premio Mayor (The Major Prize - bad translation, I know.). He was so chubby and cute then. What happened?

lol.gif
He turned into a major hottie...and still kept his acting talent! YAY! Havana Nights was such a sweet, sexy movie! I loved the dance sequences between Romola and Diego. The chemistry between them was THERE! The way Diego looked at her every time they danced or every time they were close to each other...that right there gave me butterflies!
love.gif
He's got very intense eyes! It's all in the eyes, baby!
biggrin.gif
My favorite funny part what when she asks him, "God! Do you have to be such a guy?" and he's like, "Okay, I'll be the girl, then." And he does this movements like a girl. So funny and cute! And my favorite dancing part was when they were in the first round of the competition and they were all into the dance and he just kisses her! My jaw just dropped! That kiss looked sooooo spontaneous and oh so hot! They just continued dancing like that kiss was just meant to be!

Of course, my favorite steamy part was the dancing in front of the screen with Katie's parents dancing in the video. My gosh!! Diego can sure make a girl blush by moving like that! WHOA!

ITA- I think the producers didnt think that the hard-core DD fans would have such a problem with the title of the movie. I think Havana Nights would have been a fine title and we would have gotten the hint that this was a "dirty dancing" movie plus we would have been surprised with the Patrick Swayze cameo. But I guess they had to come out with the "reimagination" line so that we wouldnt think they were blatently copying from DD.

I still think this movie is great- I love Diego too! I cant wait for DVD so I can watch it again and again like the original. I hope there are lots of extras!

I love the original so much that i just got the Ultimate Edition DVD and its packed with extras and also a little segment on HN. I wish I knew how or could make screen caps of it cuz the shots of Diego smiling are great.

I finally rented the movie last night and I was surprised at how much I liked it. The music was great, and the dancing was just incredible. It made me want to start dancing again. I loved the story, and Katie and Javier were really great together. I can't say that I enjoyed it more then Dirty Dancing, but I'd definetly watch this movie over again. ( I already have, like 20 times.) Again I have to say the dancing was just amazing.

nellie - You go girl!!! I'm gonna keep looking for the dollar theaters to play it so I can go see it again.

It didn't really fit the rest of the album, but meh! I don't even remember hearing that song in the movie!

My ultimate faves are Dance Like This and Dirty Dancing! Those 2 songs make me really wanna dance.

My best friend Meg has seen this movie 4 times and my other best friend Sher has seen it twice. I still can't believe they saw it again without me, but I will... um, get them back. I'll be seeing this again with my sister (who looves Diego).

I think I already posted here but I am too lazy to check so Im just going to repost. This movie was so cute. I loved the music and the relationship between Javier and Katey was also very cute. Plus Javier is

The plot is loosely based on the life story of producer JoAnn Fregalette Jansen, who moved to Cuba with her family in 1958. Thus, the "Based on True Events" title. So it's a prequel since the original DD was set on the summer of 1968!!!!

Diego Luna (Javier) is not a trained dancer, but learned the dances he needed for the movie in about six weeks. He has said that normally, he best dancing is done with a few beers in him.

Neither Romola Garai nor Diego Luna (Katey and Javier) had any professional dance training. Before production began, the actors spent ten weeks in Puerto Rico, training for eight hours a day with producer JoAnn Fregalette Jansen and four additional dancer/choreographers.

The movie was filmed in Puerto Rico and made to look like Cuba. Most of it was done in the colonial part of San Juan, Old San Juan a very popular hangout for Puerto Ricans and a very touristy area. In order to maintain the look and esthetic of the pre-Cuban revolution era, producers secured underground parking places for people that would visit Old San Juan during the shoot so that there wouldn't be any modern cars parked in the streets.

I have seen that movie and I like it!!!It is a great fun movie. It's purpose is to make us have a good time and I think that it succeeds!!!!Ofcourse is nothing like the first one!!!But the soundtrack is great!!!!
