You need to do a little research about motorcycles...
Do you want a dirt bike or a street bike? Two very different things. You can get a decent used dirt bike and ride the trails but that same bike is not going to be legal to ride on the street.
You do not need insurance for a dirt bike unless you are going on state property, and then it isn't insurance, just an off road state park vehicle permit.
You also say you don't want to take this too seriously... but you want to be able to go 80 mpr. That sounds pretty serious to me!
I don't think you are anywhere near ready for street riding! Take a motorcycle safety course before you get on any bike.

I feel the need to get outside more. And I'm about to be 20 years old, so no longer have that instinct you have as a kid, to go out and make up something no matter what it may be.

I was thinking about getting a dirt bike, but need some suggestions.

I weight about 150, I am about 5"9', if that matters.
I don't want to take this too seriously and invest a lot of money, just something to do when there seems like there is nothing.
Preferably something used, something strong that can take a beating, and as for the price range I would say about 200-600.

I want something that is also street legal. And something that could go to a decent speed, 80mph is good enough for me.

Also if I am a 20 year old male, I am also concerned about the insurance. If you could take a guess, how much would I be paying monthly for it?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

Well you are asking a heck of a lot. I agree that you will not get a bike for less than $1000 that is say from the 80's on up. If you want to go back into the 70's you might be able to find an older Honda Scrambler style bike for $500 or so. This style could be used on road or light off road use.

If you want a dirt bike that is capable of taking a beating, then get a dirt bike. You might be able to get an 80's vintage dirt bike for as cheap as you want to go, but it will not be street legal. And it sure won't be pretty. it will be pretty beat up and used up.
