Digimon Adventure 02 on CR and Funi Talkback (spoilers)

Episode 22... man that episode is just STUPID no matter what version you see it in. Seriously what was up with the Numemon crap jokes and the peeing Tortomon?! Did we REALLY needed to see that? Sheesh.

XVeemon is cool though so that's a plus.

This episode had some pretty cool BGM though, I loved the one that played during the basketball game.

Oh and I admit... I laughed when the basketball hit Daisuke

Is it because of the traffic, my connection or the site or is anyone else having trouble with the Digimon 02 video every thursday?! I think it works better when I wait a day or two >< and I was so looking forward to a new episode too...

Its all choppy...the theme song slows down!

EDIT: I rewinded a little and it seemed to fix the problem.

Next episode is gonna be much better!

I recorded them myself off the tv back in the days. Still got aRAB and other shows (Mostly Medabots but I think a handful of Mon Colle Knight episodes too and I think a Power Rangers ep or two) from the Fox KiRAB era on it. Oh and I kinda messed up in the middle of the last episode >< AND the cable chose that moment to glitch

Now I remeraber why I don't have the Dobermon episode... there was a cable strike and some more...shall we say dissident elements of the unions... were cutting key cables as protest! The cable went down during that whole weekend so I missed it!

I ended up catching it years later through...unmentionnable ways --

The problem occurs for two reasons: Buffering and the amount of viewership. Many people try to watch the episode right as it's released, and this causes that part of the Web site to slow down and causes more buffering.

Onto this weeks episode. Submarimon has always been my least favorite of the armor digivolutions. There just isn't much too be impressed when his strongest attack is the oxygen torpedo. I think the nose spike much be made of digi cromozone since it does cut the black spiral with ease though. I would like to be Iori and see all the wonders at the bottom of the ocean though.

Finally, so i can look a little more like all the other talkback images on TZ, I propose switching to this:

BWG's introduction is really welcome, while I found 02 in general to be a flawed season, I liked BWG very much, he was probably the best villain 02 had next to Ken, and yet wasn't really one - c'mon, how often do you get a villain who isn't exactly that?

Meanwhile, I've gotta say that Hiyama Nobuyuki-san = AWESOME

EPISODE 13: "Dragomon's Cry"

Previously: Some really stupid stuff happened that did nothing to advance the plot and the only real good thing about it was Sora's tennis outfit. Moving right along....

EDIT:
Forgot to put the review

Ah, yes, the beginning of the Dark Ocean. A part of the story that really should have been an arc or back-story by itself but for some reason Toei decided to abandon somewhere down the line. In any case, I was sooooo happy to hear this in the original format. The voice acting was spot-on. You could feel the emotion and the despair that Hikari was going through. And finally, Tailmon gets some real lines. Oh yeah, YAY! ANGEWOMON! ANGEWOMON! ANGEWOMON! (with the original evolution music too. yay)

And wow, remeraber how I said that I think the dub just added lines just to make the shipping even worse? Yeah, this was another one of those episodes. Takeru's "I care about you too much to let something happen to you, Kari" line was apparently, not there as well as Kari's response that she cares about him too. CONICIDENCE!? I THINK NOT!

Oh yeah, sure, possible mass-impregnation of a little girl by foreign creatures. That's not weird at all Toei.

This was a really great episode. The sound of dripping and flowing water has never sounded creepier to me. Some of the background music also increased the already creepy atmosphere of the episode. I thought that the scenes where Hikari was starting to disappear were really intense. I really felt so bad for Hikari since she sounded so frightened and sad throughout a good portion of the episode. Even though Takeru and Hikari's lines about caring about each other in the dub were added, I still think that it was a kind of cute moment. It was really awesome to see Tailmon evolve into Angewomon and hear the classic evolution music to boot.

Although, I'm confused on something. If the original eight children had to give up the powers of their Crests, then how could have Tailmon reach the Ultimate level. I often wondered about that when I got far enough in the dub. Since the Dark Ocean world isn't really a part of the Digital World, at least not like the usual one, perhaps that didn't apply here. That or Toei didn't write out the part about giving up their crests yet.

Anyway, it was definitely a great episode and it should have become more of an arc itself or developed a bit more throughout the series. Oh well. And yes, the idea of a group of monsters trying to make Hikari their bride to take down their god is extremely creepy. Not to mention one of the oddest things I've heard in an anime in a good long time. Still, I'll be happy to see the next episode.

Last time: The Chosen learned the true meaning of "Seeing is Believing" as after Miyako had her last bit of character development for this arc they found the Kaiser's base floating in the sky! Even worse, the Kaiser plans to release his most terrible creation yet! Kimeramon!

(So like, did Ken like dissect parts of Digimon in order to make that thing? I mean, WTF?)

Episode 19: KIMERAMON: THE AMALGAMATED MONSTER

Review to be soon (This time, I'll remeraber to do it)

Coolios. I'll switch it now. And yeah, like I said, Submarimon is kinda lame in comparison to Steven Blum...I mean Flamedramon...yeah...that's who I meant...

Yeah, this was a really weird episode. I understand that the writers probably wanted to have a comedy relief kind of episode after the end of the Digimon Kaiser arc and right before we get into Ken's depressing backstory, but I found that the toilet humor here was really odd anyway. I did not need to see Tortomon peeing twice at all. I thought that it was kind of interesting that they had such dramatic background music during the basketball game though. I couldn't help but laugh at how Daisuke was willing to go through all of that to get Veemon to evolve to his Adult level to impress Hikari. It was funny and cute all at once.

I thought that seeing XVeemon at last was really awesome though. It did feel kind of weird to hear Veemon say Shika instead of Armor Shika too. The new evolution music was kind of cool too. I prefer the armor evolution music, but I could see this theme growing on me too.

I agree. Considering that this episode provide new development for the plot, as well as show Veemon being the first of the new Digimon to evolve into his regular Adult/Champion level, I wouldn't call this a filler episode either. It's was definitely silly and I could have done without the toilet humor, but it did have importance to the plot for the next arc.

Oh yeah I was glad to see it uncut! Its really a different experience. Far creepier and more confusing. Dagomon, the god of the deep, silently emerging from the sea as this GINORMOUS dark form (which looks nothing more but a trace of its TCG card image BTW ) was pretty creepy...though the shot at the beginings felt superfluous and just one at the end would have been surprising and schocking enough if you ask me.

Also we could have used an explanation for that vision of young Hikari and Taichi.

The Darkness that calls out to the Light!

I was pretty happy to hear 'Holy Light', Hikari's theme song, in the background when she started to help the Hangyomon/Deep Ones. And the music when Airdramon showed up was pretty cool.

Tailmon kicked butt in that episode if you asked me! Both as herself in her daring meet up with Pegasusmon and as Angewomon. I still love her voice a lot and Break Up fitted pretty well once more. Man Angewomon sure didn't make much case of deleting Airdramon huh? Not that he bothered not destroying those Hangyomon (which I'm fairly certain I recall the dub not showing).

Call me crazy but I think the more subdued shipping hints in this episode felt a lot more genuine and cute than the forced stuff we got out of the dub.

As for Tailmon evolving without the crest... I think its really just Hikari's innate Light power that's somewhat a different power from her crest.

BTW Light Lucario, congrats on the mod status!

Why are they still calling it ExVeemon? I can see the English in the background!

And you know for the longest time when I was a kid, I was wondering why it was called "Vee Laser" WHEN HE'S CLEARLY SHOOTING AN "X" OUT OF HIS CHEST!

Heh, you're not gonna believe this but that is the American spelling.

The actual spelling is Chimairamon as they showed in the episode.

It's just another one of Toei's subtitle screw-ups.

This one was okay, if you ask me. On one side it introduces natural evolution; on the other the plot is rather weak. And I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who wonders why Daisuke didn't have V-Mon armor up when Tortomon chases them.
