Digimon Adventure 02 on CR and Funi Talkback (spoilers)

Well, I finally got the chance to watch this episode. I think I actually remeraber liking it a bit better when I first watched it though. Does anyone else remeraber that they added Iori being afraid of the ocean in the dub? Yeah, I have a fairly good memory, even for stuff like that. Anyway, I was seriously confused when they mentioned Jou's crest of sincerity being the last crest left. I thought that was Mimi's crest. I guess that they made a big mistake with the translation.

I understood why Iori would feel guilty for lying like that but at the same time, I feel like he was taken it way too seriously. If he hadn't lied, all of his frienRAB could have died or needed immediate medical attention. He had no other choice than to lie or else he would have been too late. I know he's like the most serious one of the new group of Chosen Children, but I think he neeRAB to lighten up a bit.

While Submarimon has somewhat of an interesting design and I do like how Iori can actually ride inside of him, I agree that he's pretty boring and practically useless outside of the water. At least all of the other Armor Evolutions have usefulness in most forms of battles. I did like seeing the artwork of the ocean at the end, as well as the Armor Evolution music.

Overall, it was a decent episode. It was at least bit better than the last one to me. Hopefully, I'll enjoy the next episode since it does have some references to 01. As for the Data Squad/Savers on DVD, I'm still so completely happy about that and I'm so going to get it when it comes out.

Episode 14: SHURIMON OF THE WIND

Previously, we got to see Hikari travel to a strange area unseen before in the Digital World. She was rescued by Takeru, Patamon and Tailmon in time but, and I quote, "What exactly was that place? All these questions remain unanswered." YEAH THEY SURE DO TOEI!

Yaaaaaay! Next to Steven Blum's voice as Fladramon, Shurimon was my second favorite armor Digimon. Now, I do have an affinity for ninjas (NOT that other show) and as a child I thought Shurimon was so freakin' cool. I mean, he had a giant shuriken, legs that looked like springs and the best part, Shurikens as his feet! Freakin' awesome.

By the way, they should have just called this episode "Miyako and her Ultimate Fantasy Come to Life (with Shurimon)." I mean, my god, could she be any more of a fangirl? "Mimi onee-sama~" Uggghh.... Miyako will you just hurry up and make out with Mimi already so we can be done with this?

I've been wondering this for a while but wouldn't it be awesome if Betamon was the same Seadramon from Season 1?

Last thing to point out. Ahh canon events. Don't you just love when you are rewarded for watching sequels to a series and then learning about the importance of them later. When it showed Daisuke and the others and what they were doing during Vamdemon's attack, that was awesome. Oh and how Miyako helped during the Diaboromon fight? Isn't it great that we saw the movie or else we never would have gotten that. Man, its good to know these things (srs buisness)

OH MY GOD, THE YELLOW DIGIMON AT THE END IS THE SAME SEIYUU AS SHIN-CHAN!

I've never actually seen the subbed version of 02. I've only watched the Filipino English dub. Unlike Saban's, it was completely uncut.

The intention behind HolyAngemon's appearance was obvious: give us false hope that he would kick BlackWarGreymon's ass but at the last minute have blackWarGreymon attack the Holy Stone in anger, shatter it in ONE SHOT and take away the source of power that allowed Angemon to go Ultimate.

In practice they kinda failed at making it dramatic enough. You don't really feel like HolyAngemon is 'OMGWTFBBQ HE CAN BEAT BWG' strong ya know?

Yeah, well, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't ever recall Ken having shown a drop of interest in her, and the only evidence for them post the Kaiser's fall was episode 25.

It still makes more sense than Matt + Sora(As well as Kari and TK with anyone but each other), which was universally hated by the fandom. And Ken never showed interest in kari mor the other girls.

No, there's no mistake considering that Mimi's digi-egg crest was acquired two episodes ago, which is why Shurimon has been in the previous two episodes. It is the last crest since none of them know about Ken's crest of kindness, but that does make me think of an interesting question. I know it's a ways a way, but remeraber whe it the second to last episode all of the Digimon get to use every form they've ever had? Why doesn't Veemon get to also become Magnamon in that episode?

Ahahah Sukamon and Chumon hitting on Mimi again...just like old time.

I always loved Digitamamon! He's an awesome Digimon! So odd and unique! With his invicible shell! WOOT!

Its odd how here Betamon doesn't get a Digivolution sequence but later on in the world tour he (and Gotsumon) do get one. Weird.

Miyako going all fangirly for Mimi and Michael hahaha.

Nice little bit of english there Toei "See you tomorow!". Altough Michael didn't seem to have any sort of accent for an American.

Decided to check out Dagomon's Cry, since its one of the few subtitled eps I want to see.

Hmm, what's that strange looking dark thing-

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! MADNESS! A thing! From another- The grimore ichor covers his unspeakable orifices! Dreams not seen since the time of dawn! What a elderich horror! It dead and yet dreaming!

What Lucario meant was that the dub called Jou's crest 'Reliability' (which makes a lot of sense considering his character and the way it was triggered) and this whole 'sincerity' 'purity' buisness is confusing. Its confusing me too... I think 'Reliability' makes more sense that having two terms that are almost synonymous.

To make things even more confusing last episode's preview of this one called it the Crest of Honesty.

As for no Magnamon... I guess its because there's no Dimental of Miracle anymore since the Crest of Kindness returned to normal and was used to plug up the leak from the Dark Ocean.

In Japanese, Mimi's crest is "Junshin" which means Purity. Jyou's crest in Japanese is "Seijitsu" which can mean Sincerity, Honesty or Faith. So the subs weren't wrong. They're just inconsistant on what they want to call Jyou's crest. Most fansubs put down Sincerity but I think Faith matches more due to the cross shape of his crest. Although, Honesty matches as well due to the whole topic about lying that occured in the episode.

Well would you look at that? A new logo

Episode 17-ODAIBA MEMORIAL

Previously, after Iori was done whining about telling a small lie in order to save his frienRAB' lives he was blessed with the DigiMental of.....okay so it's HONESTY today? Next week it's going to be freaking Happiness or Truth! Anyway Submarimon came in, did his thing and even gave Iori a ride under the sea. Meanwhile, the Digimon Kaiser plots his next evil scheme. Will he suceed? Will something amazing happen? Will the subbers ever get Iori's DigiMental name right? Tune in to today's episode.

Review for later.

EDIT: Let's Go-ON....I mean, review the episode (Sorry I just finished Engine Sentai Go-Onger today_

-So if any of you who are watching 02 and have never seen the original Adventure series...you're pretty screwed with this episode.

-Ah....Wizardmon. I almost nearly forgot that he was gone. Why the heck couldn't they bring this guy back to life? I mean, Wizardmon was one of the reasons that the entirety of the Vamdemon arc was made of awesome. And his sacrifice was just so amazingly done too. It's great how even after all this time that he was sill calling out to Tailmon. Man, I miss him (And no, that one cameo in Frontier did not cut it)

-As for the rest of the episode, I think this was basically Toei's way of saying "Hey, you guys like continuity? We'll give you continuity!" The entire thing was basically one big love letter to the fans for following the series for so long. Bringing both the original Chosen's and the New ones really made the episode stand out.

-"Was Tokyo Tower really melted down?"
Girl, you don't even want to know half the things that have happened to Tokyo Tower in Japanese Entertainment.

-It's amazing how this show manages to throw in family issues in a freakin' children's toy game show. I nearly forgot that Takeru and Yamato's parents were divorced. And when he said "You mean, Mom?" You could just see the hopefullness in his tone. Development of the Original's was a real masterpiece that I wish could have carried over to this show.

-Wizardmon's last worRAB=EPIC FORESHADOWING!

-I just remerabered what happens to Miyako next episode. Looking foward to that in it's original language.

HILARIOUS DUB MOMENTS!

T.K.-What is this stuff?
Matt-It's a secret, but I'll tell you. A little bit of hot sauce, a little bit of wasabi and some mystery meat I found in the fridge.
(God Matt's VA was cool)

Really Stupid Funny:
Davis: You mean me?
Kari: No, Davis he means the other boy wearing goggles
Davis: Really where?
Me: (facepalm)

Yeah, well, even so, they only got one episode which hinted at them, episode 25, after which they never seemed to show a drop of interest in one another, and frankly, again quoting my friend, "yeah, Ken did some pretty bad things when he was the Kaiser, but he doesn't deserve THAT!"

Good point, yeah, it wasn't exactly filler. I kinda didn't mean to put it for that; it was more for episode 33. And for that, I apologize.

With episode 34, though - doesn't have much going for it, apart from bringing back HolyAngemon, and even that doesn't elevate it much.
