Difficult Car Audio Wiring Question?

Hi, a couple months ago, I installed a 10" sub into the trunk of my 06 civic coupe. I wired it up to the stock CD deck, which has no RCA hookups, so I used a line-out converter, wired through the 6.5" speakers in the rear to hook the RCA cables into my amp/sub.

With me so far? Good.

Now today I installed an aftermarket CD deck that DOES have RCA hookups, and as soon as I finished the installation and turned on the deck, my subwoofer started to hum uncontrollably. I got it to stop by turning the amp level way down, but now I have very little bass. Whats the problem? Do I have to go back and wire the RCA plugs from the amp, all the way up front to the new CD deck? Is that what's causing that awful humming from my subwoofer?
 
Your rear speakers might be acting as microphones (actually they are, but that's usually irrelevant).

You're probably getting feedback. Try hooking the line-out converter to the fronts instead.

Running RCAs from the deck will net you better quality at the subs in the long run. Typically the deck only puts out 40Hz to 22kHz on the speaker lines, whereas it puts out 10Hz to 22kHz on the RCA lines, meaning more deep bass.

chances are that you routed the wires (RCA) close to the gage wire used to power the amp, this will cause a humming sound. go back and try alternate routes for the wires and give it another shot at it.
 
i did the same wiring with the stock unit in my car, when i put a new unit in i rewired and put them directly from the rca in the unit to the sub. you also get more control that way.
 
Take the RCA wiring up to head unit and hook it up. Uninstall the converter. Your inline is taking wattage from factory unit at like 10-15W to probably 25-40W with the new head unit. You would need to adjust the settings on the converter. The converter takes an amplified source and knocks it down for an amp to re amplify to its liking.
