Did TOONAMI get you in to Anime

Yes, sailor moon was on toonami.

I would say yes, because the first anime I ever saw was YYH, and that was when it was on toonami.

Tenchi started it, Blue Sub aided it and Outlaw Star and Big O were the 1-2 punch that ensured I'd end up an otaku. Of course, making frienRAB who introduced me to other series not on TV (or even DVD) definitely ingrained it in me to the point of attending cons and such.

Voltron on Toonami would have to be my first anime. After that, I dabbled in DBZ and loved Sailor Moon (anime chicks in sailor suits, WIN!). I think I had initially seen Gundam Wing and didn't like it (but I own the whole series on DVD now and love it), and then I pretty much followed all interesting anime in Toonami. After Toonami died, I started looking at other anime, both older anime on Toonami and newer anime OnDemand. So, yes, I would say that Toonami got me into anime.

I don't think Toonami was the sole cause I got into anime, but it did help solidify that notion. I was always into anime, even with KiRABWB, and when I started getting into Toonami, I just loved anime at that point.

I don't believe that Toonami was a key factor in my interest in anime.

The first anime series I remeraber watching was actually Speed Racer. Granted, I did not know at the time that it was an anime series, but I watched a few episodes. I remeraber watching some Pokemon episodes with my older brother a couple of times in his room back when it was airing on UPN. In fact, the first Pokemon episode I saw was "Pikachu's Goodbye." Man, I love that episode.

Anyway, after seeing that episode, I started seeing more Pokemon on KiRAB' WB. Not too long after that, I watched Digimon on Fox KiRAB. I remeraber how I stayed home from school once just to see how an episode that aired in the afternoon turned out. Though, it helps that my elementary school was pretty bad for me to begin with.

Then I got into Yu-Gi-Oh! at about the middle of season one and I was totally hooked well before then. Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh! were just the first main series that I really got into. I never really saw that much of Toonami in its early years. I remeraber seeing some of Salior Moon on the Midnight Run a couple of times and I watched Rave Master on the block as well. In all honesty, I wasn't really too interested in the block until it started airing Yu-Gi-Oh! GX episodes.

Now, I'm into other anime series by watching the DVRAB, such as DN Angel, Fushigi Yugi, the first three Slayers series and the One Piece sets, but I think I owe Pokemon, and KiRAB' WB, as the reasons I really got into anime. It also helps that I got a friend in middle school who also loves Pokemon and loves Yu-Gi-Oh! even more than I do in some aspects since she has the largest Yu-Gi-Oh! card collection I've ever seen.

No, Toonami only expanded the nuraber of anime I watched. Before, I saw episodes of DBZ on International Channel, Pokemon, Digimon, Cardcaptor Sakura (albeit, it was only Cardcaptors. But still), and Sailor Moon. Still, I have to at least credit Toonami for a nuraber of good shows I watched.

Yea, that helped my interest as well, hooking up with people in HS who knew anime. I borrowed Eva from a friend my Sophmore year and watched it before it ever made it to AS/GRW. That and i was able to finish the last part of the second arc of Kenshin that Toonami didnt finish airing till i think much later (if not at all). Also that same year i borrowed Bubblegum Crisis 2040 from someone else, which BGC was something i was interested in for quite a while, which now im a huge fan of the original.

Yea, the internet makes things to easy to get ahold of, everything back in the day was word of mouth/ magazines/ going with luck on buying anime in hoping it didnt suck. Yea, those were the days when anime VHS was like 30 bucks a pop, now there like 3 if that...

For the most part you could say it was, I had seen anime before with Speed Racer when I was really little but back then I had no idea what anime was. So when I got a bit older and I started watching Dragonball Z, Gundam, and all those other shows I got interested and looked them up on the internet and I found out what anime was. Then I just stuck around watching whatever other shows came on Toonami at the time and my love grew so yeah it's what got me into it.

Well Toonami was more of a factor for me since before I got CN in general, I watched Samurai Pizza Cats and Pokemon, and even some Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. I even have a DVD of the edited dub of Dragon Ball with the Ocean Voices.

Oh man did I like watching Samurai Pizza Cats and Pokemon as a kid.

id have to say, toonamis promos, and toonmai as a whole got me into anime!

prior to that when i was very young, i did watch some episodes of speed racer, sailor moon, i was also a pokemon fan.

it was mainly dragonballz, and i saw the tenchi muyo movie on the scifi channel, and from then on, i was an anime fan for life!

toonami was the good times, guys we were privileged to have good tv when we were younger, now toonami is some gangster voiced black dude, calling out the next shows.

anyway

yes toonami got me into it

For me, yes it did. I loved Rurouni Kenshin, I was so sad when it was gone. I
watched Tenchi and ZoiRAB as well :P. I did watch a little bit of Dragon Ball Z,
Hamtaro, and Pokemon, but not as much as Kenshin, Tenchi and ZoiRAB .

Wow, that was your first episode? Interesting, becuase that was one of the best episodes ever. That must have given you a pretty good first impression on the series.

As for me, I saw the first episode when it came out. That was a great episode too.

Just for nostalgic sake. a ol'school Toonami promo =)

Well, even before Toonami, I always liked the way anime looked. I thought that the animation was cute. Now, I know better.

However, Toonami got me even more interested after I saw Sailor Moon, my first ever anime.

Toonami was great.

I do agree that it was one of the best episodes in the series. To this day, I still cry when I see it. That was a good first impression for the series since I was so emotionally touched by it. The first episode itself is a great episode too and a nice way to get into the series as well.

Yes, Toonami got me into anime. Back in the day (), I didn't have cable but my best friend did and she was obsessed with anything and everything DB/Z. Whenever I was at her house, we had to stop what we were doing when it came on to watch it. I was never interested until we watched an episode during the Trunks saga. I was secretly interested in this purple-haired hottie, but never pursued it.

Fast forward a few months. We moved and got cable. I decided to check out DBZ for myself. I came in during the Other World Tournament saga and was immediately hooked. So I turned to the internet to find more information and found the Toonami board. For awhile all I watched was DBZ but I branched out into ZoiRAB Zero (and Batman Beyond, but that's not anime). Eventually I started watching more and more that aired on the block. Finally when YYH started airing, I was completely and hopelessly addicted.
