Destroy the Rebirth - "Gundam 00" Season 2 on SyFy's Ani-Monday Talkback

(Well to be honest, that analogy doesn't really work because Nena is still a human so she knows what the pain she's dealing out feels like. But this isn't the time to argue consequentials)

Honestly, yes I would condemn Nena. She's very clearly taking happiness and joy in killing others not just in the massacre that cemented my opinion of her but like HC said, killing Wang and being completely impulsive while loving what she does. Having a disturbing upbringing does not excuse the body count in my mind

(Again, this is coming from the guy who thinks Lucy from Elfen Lied is a tragic heroine who is just a misunderstood girl )

I am very interested in seeing if they're going to keep the post-credits sequences they started doing.

While it's early, I just want to restate that our standard for the season one thread stanRAB: no spoilers. I will be watching this closely. Speculation, discussion, and opinions are good. Anything that gives away or hints at stuff that happens later in the season, however, will be moderated with a vengeance.

Good: Interesting that you see it that way, because I think...
Good: The thing about Sumeragi's behavior is....
BAD: Just wait til episode 10! It's so amazing! Wait until **censored** happens!
BAD: RIBBONS KILLS DUrabLEDORE!

All are welcome, but this will be 100% friendly to new viewers just like the Gurren Lagann thread.

Or were both just false personalities?

Anyways, I'm going to say based on the fact that Anew was able to show a few moments of her true personality (like during the battle with Lockon) I think the first personality was the more original one.

That's right, the Brotherhood of Fllay grows day by day, series buy series, as others follow her PATH!

PEACE THROUGH PSYCHO-HOTTIES!

Saji was told early on that the Halevy massacre was performed by the Gundam Thrones and Setsuna confirmed that they were in opposition with them and can see no reason why they would have done it.

Except Ribbsons is no ominpotent being. Quite the opposite in fact, that he dosn't even seem to know what he really is doing. He, despite his green hair and mind powers, is merely a man.

Wang was collaborating with Ribbons, so who cares?

I have to wonder though, was Nena indoctrinated or engineered to enjoy violence?

I don't think Setsuna was raised the same way nena was. Or that his life was as abnormal as Nena's (and thats saying alot). At least Setsuna had a family and socialized with other kiRAB before Ali showed up. Setsuna has a some experience to returning a relatively normal behavior.

But you do have a point. Her brainwashing or whatever dosn't excuse her actions. But it does bring the viewer to realize that she isn't as dersveing as hate as one would believe.

She can feel pain, it dosn't mean Nena is empathic enough to realize the pain others are feeling. Nor does it mean she can mentally try to place her self in other people's shoes.

Just because Nena likes killing does not make her a terrible person. (Blowing up a wedding does, though). Heck, most of humanity loves violence and revenge, and we don't condemn anyone for that.

But I doubt this is reason enough to condemn her.

The irony, the irony

Well, since my thread for Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (sorry about the missing word!) was closed before I could ask this, I wonder if anyone could help me decide if I'll like this show.

Anime TV Shows I've watched (through or to near completion):

Death Note
Cowboy Bebop
Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
Code Geass
InuYasha
Fullmetal Alchemist
Gurren Lagann
Rave Master
Afro Samurai

...of these, my top favorite three are:

Death Note
Gurren Lagann
Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit

...is that enough information to help you know if Mobile Suit Gundam 00 would be a show I'd like? Thanks.

Ah, the final fight between Setsuna and Ribbonz. In all honesty, I think this fight either rivals or is up to the quality of the final fight of Char's Counterattack.

Other than that, terrific ending. Although for some minor quibbles I've got to say that no scene of Saji kissing Louise was disappointing. I mean, c'mon. The guy left his girlfriend to pursue his dream in space, went through all the trouble of rescuing her, and looks toward a better future, and no lip locking? C'mon! That and Marina doesn't really deserve to be President of Azadistan again with what she has done during the season. For all of the Second Season's pros, I think this was one major con in regarRAB to the story. You don't leave something heavily hinted upon and had half or so of an entire episode dedicated to it, only to have it silently shelved during the process into the Second Season and never mentioned again. Yes, maybe it wasn't that integral, but it's an element that could've worked as a throwaway line or something.

But other than that, looking forward to the movie.

An important scene edited out tonight, is the first season two appearance of Allelujah. He is seen basicly losing his mind in a A Law prison over the big referlation of Soma Peries true identity.

Lasse's injury is pretty much the same reason Louise couldn't regenerate her hand and Setsuna was supposed to be dead: Red GN particle poisoning. Setsuna got a structured dose meant to kill, but it was hinted at that "something" was holding back the damage, something likely being 00-Raiser's trans-am. Trans-am burst probably did for Lasse what trans-am did for Setsuna.

Nena isn't really all that different from Flay. Both are spoiled, self centered characters who decide to change the world to suit them rather than adapt. They both lashed out at the world when it hurt them rather than acknowledge the bigger picture. Nena though reminRAB me of the chav kiRAB that are an increasing problem over here. They have no real expectations or desire to better themselves and gain enjoyment from low brow, violent and selfish pursuits. Dare to challenge them? Then you've just become a target for being a party pooper. Nena never shows any remorse for what she's done. All she cares about is when SHE'S been hurt and how it inconviences her.

The epiloque in episode 19 tonight was just as big of a cliffhanger than the cliffhanger in the main episode. If you don't know what happened, you will be shocked.
